Our Louisiana rescuer was surprised to see a guy like Fabio (we call him Fabio the Fabulous) at a very high kill Louisiana shelter. Even under the thick matts and sad eyes, it was clear that there was a sweet and loving guy just waiting to emerge. Fabio was recognized for his incredible temperament, his cotton-soft, caramel-colored coat and his kind face..he has earned his ticket to Colorado and a brand new life. Fabio's wonderful LA rescuer had the following to say about this loving guy:
Fabio is our super sweet and fabulous "morkie." (We feel there might be a bit of Shih Tzu in this guy...all the more beautiful)! Yesterday he was groomed and now feels like a million bucks! His skin is healthy while his cotton-soft coat is short and so, so silky and his flowing tail is glorious. He had successful surgery on a cherry eye and has recovered perfectly. We're told that there will never be any repercussions or further surgery necessary. This amazing boy is soooo easy! He is quiet, confident and low demand. Fabio absolutely loves curling up on a pillow, folded blanket, or the back of the couch for naps. He gets along perfectly with all the dogs and enjoys rough housing with the little ones, but keeps himself separate from the pack alot of the time...he's such a people guy. He would be fine as an only dog or with another gentle, smaller dog. He does not chase the cat or even pay her any attention. Fabio prefers life as an indoor companion, so an apartment would be fine. He likes a walk around the block or down a trail, but doesn't get all that overjoyed when the leash comes out...Fabio would be fine with a more sedentary owner who loves a full-time lap dog and foot-warmer. He loves to go for car rides and peeks so cutely out the window while he waits patiently at the grocery store. He is trained to potty outside, but must be taken out periodically as he doesn't yet understand how to signal. He has no destructive or defensive behavior - very respectful of the house. He has cute little mannerisms that will quickly endear him to any person. Fabio is a low-maintenance and amazingly easy keeper. Anyone looking for a small (15#) sweet, funny lap dog and best friend will fall in love with little Fabio.
Fabio is a non-shedding guy and will therefore require periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his coat silky-soft and matt-free.
Fabio is arriving in Boulder, CO on transport on 4/8 or 4/10. Applications are currently being accepted for this sweet and lovable companion.
