It was a gorgeous spring day and we were out on a hike when we received an email about Bodhi. His story and photos stopped us in our tracks and we got very emotional about his sad story. For those of us who live in this amazing Denver/Boulder area...we have the false belief that animal abuse only occurs elsewhere...not so. This beautiful Poodle (maybe apricot, maybe white..we'll let you know after his spa day) is the best example of living in the moment. He's happy, playful and very friendly - it almost makes you forget for a second that he's been chained for his entire life. It's been 2 years now of frigid winters and the hot summer sun with no shelter. There was no question that we would bring this resilient spirit into our rescue! We named him Bodhi... after Bodhisattva - an ordinary being who takes a course in their life that is compassionate and loving. We have so much to learn from this abused dog who has chosen the path of love and forgiveness. Bodhi has left the chain behind and is about to experience his first sudsy bath and haircut..with lots of hugs and treats. He will then be ready to bring his joy to a forever family. We're searching for a very loving retired family for this cute and sweet Poodle. Bodhi is completely house-trained and the best dog in the world - according to his foster mom. He will be a dream come true to special people who want to spend lots of time snuggling and interacting with a wonderful and devoted best friend. Bodhi would excel in training class...he's so smart and absolutely loves to please. Bodhi will bond like none other to anyone who is kind and creates boundaries for him to live by. A warm lap is always a way to seal the deal in Bodhi's heart. Bodhi is a non-shedding guy that is considered to be the most hypoallergenic of breeds. He will therefore require periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his coat cottony-soft and free of matts. Bodhi is being fostered in Denver - applications are being accepted and meet and greets are currently being set up for this exceptional companion.
