My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

What an incredibly intelligent and very sweet guy this Shih Tzu/Schnauzer is! Zayne was rescued by Farfel's at a perfect time in his life..just about 1 year old...before he developed sad characteristics that spoke of the neglect and poverty that was his life. It's not uncommon for Houston dogs to end up in a high-kill shelter due to overpopulation. It's truly a statement on opportunistic breeding (Shih Tzu/Schnauzers are favorite breed mixes) and simply being irresponsible on spaying/neutering. The great temperaments always shine, however, and Zayne was chosen to be rescued and brought to a foster home while waiting for his transport to Denver. Zayne's foster mom had the following to report on this adorable guy:

--"Yes I have the pleasure of fostering adorable Zane. He had to wear a cone for the first 6 or so days. He didn't like it but he never complains - he's just not that kind of guy.
This is one sweet pup! He is just a touch needy right now but once he feels a sense of permanency in his forever home, he'll just be a loving and sweet pup - he's getting greater courage and more trusting each day with my family. He loves to play, gets along with other humans and dogs without an aggressive bone in his adorable body.
He loves treats which is good because his one and only problem that I can see is his desire to jump on me - when I tell him Down and treat - he responds very well. With consistent training and treats he will stop that in no time.
He knows 'sit' and is very eager to please. No matter what I say, he listens and tries to do what he thinks I want him to do...it's awesome! He does well in a crate. No peep out of him all night.
Zayne barks at people he doesn't know and tall men (not sure what prompts this) when he first meets them. As he feels more secure in my home, he does that less and less.
What a great pup! Thank you for seeing the incredible companion and sweetie-pie that is Zayne! There's no question - Zayne is a gift to any family. He's truly special!!

Zayne is a non-shedding guy and will therefore require periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his gorgeous coat healthy and matt-free.
Zayne is arriving on transport in Denver on 4/18. Applications are currently being accepted for this adorable and loving companion.
