Meet an international “Star”!
Starlight, star bright . . . this lovely, petite, female calico has reason to thank her lucky stars! You might say she is an international “Star” because this kitty was rescued from a bleak life on the streets of a small town in Turkey. Due to the kindness of strangers she was flown to the USA to start a new life in California.
Starlight is still shy with new people, but she’s coming around now that she knows she is loved and in a safe place. She is still a bit jumpy and likes to know there is a hiding place where she can go if she feels too nervous. Window ledges are a favorite spot to relax on and view the sights and sounds of her new adoptive country. So very different than where she came from in Turkey.
Despite a rough start in life Starlight is sweet and playful. She plays well alone, likes catnip mouse toys and fuzzy toys. But a favorite game to play with people is done using a simple rubber band. You shoot the rubber band and Starlight will chase it and play with it.
Starlight seems to have a keen interest in carpets and will slide on small bathroom rugs and look under the corners of large area rugs. Since she was born in Turkey we think she might be looking for a magic flying carpet!
Due to her rough start on mean streets, Starlight does not like to be picked up, though she will rub against your legs and accept pets to show she appreciates your affection towards her. With time and love we think she will blossom.
When Starlight first arrived in this country she was very quiet. Maybe she was just trying to understand English? But now she is becoming more vocal and will even have a brief conversation with you. Since we don’t speak Turkish we are not sure exactly what she is saying but we know it’s nice to talk with her! She is also beginning to respond to her name, which has been shortened to Star by her foster mom.
Starlight would love to have a calm and quiet home with gentle, understanding people. She may not speak English yet, but she understands love! If you have the time to teach this little Turkish kitty the language of love she will return it many times over.

All Jake’s Place cats available for adoption are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations, tested for FIV/FeLV and are microchipped.
Our Adoption Fee is $110. This Fee helps pay for Spay/Neuter, Microchip, Vaccines, FIV/Leukemia Testing, as well as all other Veterinary costs. Adopters must agree to return the kitty to Jake’s Place if the adoption fails. All Fees will be returned.
Jake’s Place is a 100% volunteer organization. All Fees and Donations go directly to the care of our kitties.
