Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Mr. Portage is a big, hunky, mellow, sweet, friendly and lovable, one to two-year-old, 4.8-pound, male, brown and white English Spot rabbit looking for a loving guardian.
Mr. Portage was found hopping around the Portage Park neighborhood of Chicago. People were pointing him out and saying that he looked different from the other rabbits they see outside. It was obvious that he was a domestic rabbit that either strayed from home or was booted out. Some animal lovers were going to set a trap to catch him, but a woman went and picked him up … no trap needed for this friendly bunny.
I could tell from the yellow staining of his white fur that he had probably been confined to a small cage before he was let out. However, Mr. Portage uses a litter box just like a cat, so he can be a wonderful house rabbit. He is also good with rabbit-friendly cats and dogs. He lets them groom and snuggle with him.
Mr. Portage is docile and trusting; he lets you pet him and he is not at all scared of people and he is not a biter.
Mr. Portage was quite hungry when he came into rescue. He eats a healthy diet of Timothy hay and greens (Romaine, red and green-leaf lettuce, cilantro) and a small amount of pellets every day. He also enjoys a daily papaya tablet to aid in his digestion. If you’d like to read up on rabbits and their care, please check out: http://www.rabbit.org/
Mr. Portage’s adoption fee of $75 benefits rescued pets. His entire set up including exercise pen, cage, water bottle, water bowl, litter, Timothy hay, papaya tablets, and pellets is available for an additional $100. To meet and possibly adopt him please contact me directly at sheri@petraits.com or 773-777-2891. He has been neutered, treated with Revolution and vet-checked.
