My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Gracie is a beautiful 1 year old tabby mix with very unique markings and coloring. It all starts with her lovely, silver-grey tabby face and ends with her gray tabby tail. In between she's snow white. . . see for yourself!

Gracie is very sweet and loving despite having come from the mean streets of Avsallar, Turkey. Her life there was one of little food and lots of hardship. Through a partnership with a Turkish rescue group Gracie was brought to the USA to start a new life.

She’s a little shy until she feels comfy, but will be your best friend in no time. She likes being petted, groomed and getting gentle tummy rubs. She will be very happy in your lap. When she wants more attention she will sit facing you and touch her paws to your face! Or rub her face against yours' as if she's kissing your cheeks! She's also a curious, playful, purring kitty who enjoys wand toys. She does startle easily, so would do best in a home without small children or hyper-active dogs. Overall, Gracie is an easy-going gal who enjoys spending time with you.

Gracie has tested positive for FIV, but that doesn’t mean she needs to be treated very much differently than any other kitty. She is healthy in every other way, requires no medication and has no discernible symptoms. In fact, if you didn’t know it you would say she looks like any other cat you might see. And her love is just the same as any other cat’s, too!

Cats who test positive for FIV can and do live normal, healthy lives.  They can live with other kitties who are not FIV positive, as long as none of them are fighters.  FIV is transferred by a serious bite wound to other cats. It is not transmittable to people, dogs or any other species.  Please check out the Best Friends website for more information and get educated about FIV.

Gracie would do best in a home with another mellow cat, no small children and no hyper-active dogs. Gracie will also need to be indoors only.
