My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

IIt got scarily close to Windsor's euthanasia time in a dismal Kansas shelter - one of the facilities left that still uses gassing. It was definitely through no fault of his own..it's all a matter of space. He came in at a very crowded time and was therefore given just hours to be rescued. After a scramble by our very compassionate Kansas rescuer (they have a soft spot for a fuzzy guy with a great temperament!), Windsor was pulled out of the shelter at the last second possible. They have not stopped raving about this adorable and engaging guy ever since. Windsor, at about 5.5 - 6 years old is such a perfect age... a small, mixed breed dog can now live up to 18 years old or so with great care. He's old enough to have great, calm behavior and young enough for many active years ahead. At 10.6 lbs, Windsor is the perfect size to take along just about anywhere. He is a great candidate to find his forever home in Colorado - he's an enthusiastic walker with the energy and enthusiasm to accompany his favorite person...and respectful canines... on any CO path. We had the good fortune to spend the day with Windsor yesterday. The consensus was unanimous...he was the sweetest, calmest and most low-maintenance guy we had met in a very long time! Somewhere along the line, Windsor had had extensive training. He's absolutely perfect on a leash...he stops when you do and continues on at your side on a loose leash. He watches other dogs and humans hurry by with nothing but a glance. He respectfully accepts an invitation to cuddle in your lap...but when that time is up, he's also happy to just be. Windsor is housetrained and completely non-vocal...perfect for an apartment or a retirement community. We envision Windsor with retirees who enjoy spending their time with the world's most loving and well-behaved guy. He would be a very family-oriented pup if given the chance...adventures, vacations or just hanging out at home would speak to the nature of this lap-dog extraordinaire. A fun time would be exploring dog-friendly spots or time spent socializing with like-sized gentle canines and their dog-loving families. At the end of the day...there would be nothing better for Windsor than to snuggle down with his family of humans and canines..we also feel that this chill guy would be fine with cats. He can be counted on to be a truly positive addition to any home...Windsor is a very easy guy whose joy at being part of a committed family would know no bounds. After passing his temperament tests (with an A++) and vetting, Windsor is ready for his new life. Windsor is a combination of 2 non-shedding breeds (and possibly several more)...he has puffs of gorgeous gold and white hair that will soften with great nutrition and grooming care. Windsor will require periodic grooming and the nutritional regiment to keep his lovely coat healthy and matt-free. .

Windsor is being fostered in a home in Denver. Applications are currently being accepted and Meet and Greets being set up for this truly exceptional companion.
