My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

The very first thing that Lyric the Norfolk Terrier mix wants to make clear is that she's a love. In this sad shelter photo, you're not aware of the striking colors that run through her silky coat - with grooming, care and great nutrition, Lyric's coat will show its gorgeous colors. We wonder if she will have to be shaved to allow her healthy and silky-soft coat to come in. Everything is new to Lyric...her adorable little nose sniffs shyly at an outstretched hand...and then an ear to ear smile if it's a loving touch. And then before you know it, Lyric is in your lap or next to you on the couch. She's so happy there because her human relationships are so important to her. We have to remember that Lyric comes from a very tough and challenging shelter. As a result of unkind handling and harsh conditions, Lyric is a bit shy. Once she's assured that all is well, she'll snuggle close for love and support. This 1.5 - 2 year old, 19 lb NorfolkX truly lights up when she feels like she's done a good job... some serious hugging and kind words will send her over the moon. Lyric is such a people dog...she likes older kids but they definitely must be very gentle and handle her kindly. We envision Lyric with a retired couple or individual who want an adorable and sweet dog as a family member and companion. She would be so excited to spend her days in the company of her people....she's quiet and mellow enough to spend her afternoon snoozing on the couch or would be just as happy to go for a hike along gorgeous Colorado paths....just as long as she's with her person. Lyric can have a moment of insecurity from the turmoil that has been in her life...a guardian who is present and full of good intention can readily get this great girl past these feelings and let her know she is loved and won't be abandoned. Lyric is a non-shedding (or very lightly shedding dog). She will therefore require periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep her coat healthy and matt-free.

Lyric will be arriving on transport in Denver on 6/14. We are currently accepting applications for this sweet and exceptional companion.
