My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Some of us are born with a special passion in our hearts. Such was the case for Laila's rescuer...a new college graduate who wanted to put her energies into a worthwhile endeavor. She wanted to begin to right the wrongs she became aware of in the world of puppy mills. Becca didn't just talk about her dreams...she drove from Colorado to Missouri to attend an auction to save as many lives as possible. The dogs Becca saved all had 1 thing in common...they would be spending their lives in wire cages, and when their breeding years were over, they would be killed. The shock was the complete lack of compassion for these little beings...they were nothing more than a means to an end for a greedy and heartless group.
Laila looked up fearfully with her expressive eyes as the bidding started that would direct the rest of her life. Luck was with her on that fateful day...she was going home with Becca! The gorgeous purebred Yorkie, Laila, became a part of Farfel's Rescue in Boulder, CO to find her forever family. Laila is a tiny girl at just 4 lbs and 2 years old. We have great hopes for Laila's future...even though she's timid and is only coming out of her crate inch by inch each day...she is fascinated by humans and the possibility that they might love and cuddle her. Laila has a very sweet and kind temperament. She wants to trust...it is only time and patience that will enable Laila to truly bond enough to allow a relationship.
The perfect home for Laila is a very quiet and predictable environment. We think she'd be a gift for a retiree who doesn't require immediate gratification...but will allow a relationship to grow slowly and naturally. With time, Laila will feel safe to show the love that lives inside of her. As this friendship blossoms, Laila will be a best friend who will return devotion and loyalty a thousand times over. Laila enjoys (and derives self-esteem) from relationships with like-sized, very gentle dogs. As she becomes braver, we know that Laila will learn how to play with... and follow the directives of canine friends. Laila would also benefit greatly from socialization once she trusts her people. A trip in the car to dog-friendly spots..visiting friends who love dogs or even just running errands where a hug and a treat are good possibilities will start Laila on the path to believing the world is a positive place. We think that Laila would be much happier in a home where her family is present and enjoys the daily company of a tiny and portable little dog.
Laila is a non-shedding girl and will therefore require great nutrition and periodic grooming to keep her stunning coat healthy and matt-free.
Laila is being fostered in Denver, CO. Applications are currently being accepted and Meet and Greets are being set up for this exceptional pup who will be a best friend and lap-dog extraordinaire to a lucky family.
