My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Our Kingstan is a jolly little fellow who is pure Terrier spunk! Just two years old, he was found running amuck by Animal Control officers, who reported he was wearing a blue harness and red leash when they brought him to an overcrowded intake facility. Kingstan was clearly someone's pet, but, sadly he had no microchip or ID tag to identify his owner.

Kingstan was placed on "stray hold" for 14 days, to give his folks time to claim him, but nobody showed, so he was released to us after all options had been exhausted. While he was a guest of Animal Control, Kingstan had a thorough vet once over, which he seemed to complain about to any human that would listen. All that fussiness earned him a cautionary behavior warning from the vet, which was quickly overruled by the behavior staff, who declared him a complete gem!

Terrier folks will love Kingstan. He appears to be a mix of two popular Terrier breeds, the West Highland and Norwich. He has a wiry white and tan coat, that is low shedding, but does require an occasional Groomer's touch up. Kingstan has a sturdy, muscular physique, and is currently at his ideal weight of 16 pounds.

Kingstan has all the high energy, and in-your-face tenacity, that seasoned terrier folks relish. He is an extremely active little guy, who needs a couple of brisk leash walks each day, as well as focused play and consistent obedience work, to channel his energy. Kingstan's former owners clearly did not followed through on his obedience training, and he seems to be a bit behind the learning curve. He has proven to be a quick study, and he responds well to treat and praise positive reinforcement and leadership techniques. Kingstan really enjoys the training process and is easy to handle on lead.

Kingstan is generally amenable to strangers and seems to love people and other dogs. He would thrive in an adult multi-dog home, with an active single or couple, or even a family with older kids, who have the time to properly exercise a spirited youngster. We have not had Kingstan around cats, but the Terrier energy is usually not cat friendly.

Kingstan has good house manners and is house trained and crate trained. Adopters are expected to troubleshoot the occasional accident that may occur during Kingstan's adjustment to a new routine. He is in excellent health and has been neutered. He has been vaccinated for rabies, DHLPP (distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parvo and parainfluenza). He has had the 4snap test,
and is negative for heartworm, lyme, earlichia and anaplasmosis. He has been microchipped and dewormed. If you are interested in Kingstan, please write to Denise@eskiesonline.com or call Denise at 720-903-0636 for more info.
