My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

It seems that everyone loves the Havanese breed. It is actually a breed designed by humans...a combination of a Maltese, Bichon and a 3rd breed originating in Cuba. This combination of breeds has proven over and over again to be great companions and wonderful pets. Harry the Havanese, through absolutely no fault of his own, but rather some awful stroke of bad luck, ended up in a very high-kill Texas shelter. The facility is terribly overcrowded with the adoption rate far too low and therefore the euthanasia rate is extremely high. Harry was rescued at the very last second by great Texas rescuers combined with a commitment by Farfel's Rescue. Harry, at 18 - 24 months old and just about 21 lbs is an exceptionally adorable Havanese! More important than Harry's great looks is his joy in simply being alive and being noticed.. He couldn't be happier or possess more positive energy than when he left the shelter. Harry would be an exceptional family member (just a bit shy initially) for active retirees who want to commit to a sweet and playful fellow. We don't feel Harry should be placed in a household with children simply because he hasn't had exposure to the high energy and loud voices of young kids. We feel his happiness would lie with a more predictable family where he could count on them being there for him and he for them. He would find so much joy with a loving and responsible family..so much so that you can count on his body to start to wiggle and wag when they're near. Harry would be overjoyed with people that enjoy hiking or similar outdoor adventures. He is more than happy to engage in a walk or play - his tail wags with joy at being included. Harry is such a pleasure to be with as he approaches the world with self-confidence and love. He would truly be a gift to any family searching for a playful and extremely devoted guy. Harry is a non-shedder and therefore will require great nutrition and periodic grooming to keep his cotton-soft coat healthy and matt-free.
Harry is being fostered in Denver. Applications are currently being accepted and Meet and Greets are being set up for this wonderful adult companion.
