My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

The very first thing that Alex the Welsh Terrier mix wants to make clear is that he's a love. In this photo, you're not aware of the striking golden and chestnut colors that run through his gorgeous coat - with grooming, care and great nutrition, Alex's coat will show its gorgeous colors. Everything is new to Alex...his adorable little nose sniffs shyly at an outstretched hand...and then an ear to ear smile if it's a loving touch. And then before you know it, Alex is in your lap or next to you on the couch. He's so happy there because his human relationships are so important to him. We have to remember that Alex comes from a very tough and challenging shelter. As a result of unkind handling and harsh conditions, Alex is initially a bit shy. Once he's assured that all is well, he'll snuggle close. This 9 - 12 month old, 12 or so lb Welsh Terrier mix truly lights up when he feels like he's done a good job... some serious hugging and kind words will send him over the moon. In this spirit of great behavior, Alex has never had an accident inside..quite an accomplishment for a rescue pup! Alex is such a people dog...he loves kids of all ages but they definitely must be very gentle and handle him kindly. We envision Alex with an active retired couple or individual or a family with older kids who want an adorable and sweet dog as a family member and best companion. He would be so excited to spend his days in the company of his favorite people. Being a Terrier, Alex loves physical exercise as well as mental stimulation. He would be a natural in positive reinforcement group obedience classes and agility class. He would love the challenge and is so smart and wanting to please, he would excel. He would also be overjoyed to hike along gorgeous Colorado paths..enjoying the sunshine and time with his people. Alex can have a moment of insecurity from the turmoil that has been in his life...a guardian who is present and full of good intention can readily get this great guy past these feelings and let him know he is loved and won't be abandoned. His nature is to be very joyful and in moments his silly and fun nature takes over.
Alex is a non-shedding dog and will therefore require periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his coat healthy, shiny and matt-free.

Alex is currently being fostered in Denver. If interested in this exceptional companion, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com. We will be in touch to set up a Meet and Greet with our sweet Alex.
