My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We all know how we get that awww feeling when we see an adorable young puppy. They're so new and fresh with every possibility open to them. That's the case unless they're in a high-kill shelter that is dismal, not the most sanitary environment and quickly runs out of space. This is the situation that Amber was put into at 7 weeks old. It's not unusual to see opportunistic breeding with Goldens ...and if all doesn't go perfectly...out they go into the street or to a high-kill shelter. Such was the case with Amber when it was found that she was allergic to fleas...and fleas in Houston in the summer is an inevitable state of affairs. We're so grateful for the efforts of our great Texas rescuer in saving Amber...she could see that her temperament was so loving and sweet that she couldn't allow her to be euthanized. Amber was immediately brought to be vetted - she was pronounced a healthy baby who had suffered malnutrition earlier in her life. She needed great nutrition and a clean home where fleas weren't an issue. She was brought to be fostered...and with love, soothing baths, healthy food and a spotless, insect-free spot..her skin has healed and has grown into a cottony Golden puppy's coat..so beautiful! It turns out that Amber, at only 2 months old, is so wonderful and cooperative that it's been a fun and rewarding experience for her foster mom. She's like a blank slate...open and curious about everything around her. If Amber continues to be properly socialized, she will become a well-adjusted and devoted adult companion. If she is treated kindly with clear behavioral guidelines, she will become a well-behaved dog who respects her people as her leaders. This is the kind of family we're searching for for Amber. Since she will be approximately 35 - 45 lbs when full-grown, we also feel it's very important that Amber is provided with exercise and mental stimulation. She will be a perfect size to enjoy hiking and snowshoeing in the Colorado mountains. We'd also like a family who spends lots of time at home and chooses to include a fuzzy companion in their activities. Amber can be taught that the car is a fun place that leads to great adventures out in the community and can therefore accompany her family just about anywhere.
Amber has arrived in Denver unfixed due to her very young age...Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs in regard to Amber's spay, microchip and any additional puppy shots she might require if our vet is used.

Amber is being fostered in Denver. If interested in this sweet puppy who is full of love and personality, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com.
