My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Our sweet and absolutely beautiful Layla couldn't be more loving no matter how hard she tried. Layla is approximately a 9 - 12 month old, 4.6 lb purebred Yorkshire Terrier (as least that's what we've been told by the shelter vet and we tend to agree) that is just waiting to be the love of someone's life. She has had a challenging experience in this world but is now safe and sound…never to be cold or hungry again. But with it all…Layla doesn't hold a grudge and desires only to be the best companion possible. Since she is so young, Layla is somewhat of a blank slate…open to all possibilities if treated kindly and with respect. Group training classes with her family and a positive reinforcement trainer would truly serve both Layla and her people. Together they will learn the skills to have Layla be a dog that is well-behaved in every situation. It also creates strong bonds of respect between pup and family.
Layla is a fun-loving girl who looks ahead to a wonderful future of adventures with her forever family. Somehow Layla came out of the shelter with high self-esteem. She's a well-adjusted girl who seems to fit in no matter where she lands. Layla's eyes widen a bit as she takes in the new sights and sounds of her foster home while she waits for her transport to Denver...but with love (hugs and kisses are awesome), respect and of course some great treats, Layla is on her way to her favorite people's laps! She would also love to come along.....be it to a dog-friendly workplace, on vacation or socializing…Layla would love to be there as a best friend. She has such a pleasant personality and at under 5 lbs, is very portable and low-maintenance. At home, Layla would be fine with sharing her family with other dogs. As long as they're gentle and respectful of Layla's tiny size...she can enjoy them. Layla can even get feisty in her play and needs to be reminded that mellower fun can be just as awesome.
We envision Layla in a home that will provide her with exercise and mental stimulation…other dogs help that with play and socialization. Layla would also be overjoyed with walking through the beautiful Colorado mountains. When she gets tired, she is a perfect candidate to curl up in a doggie backpack and enjoy the view from above.
Layla wouldn't be content spending long hours alone…she's far too people-oriented to be happy with that lifestyle. A retired couple or individual or a person who works from home would be great. Layla would love the companionship and consistency of those relationships. Being just a pup, she'd also learn that she's loved and cared for…a lesson that results in a happy and confident adult dog.
Farfel's has requested that Layla be spayed prior to her arrival in Colorado. Since this area of Kansas has only one vet, this may not be possible. Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs for Layla's spay and microchip at our vet when she arrives in Denver.

Layla will be arriving on transport in Denver on 11/6 or 7. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If you're interested in this sweet and playful companion, please fill out and return to farfelsapps@gmail.com.
