My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

What a scary world it is out there when you're homeless and hungry...especially when you only weigh 30 pounds and are just 9 - 12 months old. Spencer, a gorgeous (although it's difficult to tell from this sad shelter photo) Schnauzer/Terrier mix (or so the Texas shelter identified him while the vet called Spencer a purebred Schnauzer...we're just not sure) found himself in this situation through no fault of his own. His plight was the result of irresponsibility and neglect...such a sad statement for the level of care that a human bestowed on this harmless dog.
Spencer was the luckiest guy around that day...he was discovered and rescued from a high-kill shelter by a kind soul who felt compassion when she realized how friendly and loving he was. He was a matted mess on the outside..but nothing but pure and grateful devotion and love on the inside! Spencer's foster brought him home and dedicated herself to caring for him...and reassuring his abandoned psyche that he was safe. After many efforts to find Spencer's family...the decision was made that he deserved a new life in Colorado. He would so love walks down mountain trails...he loves being outside and is capable of being a companion for lots of activities. Spencer is definitely searching for a human friend that he can devote his heart to....and that person will be the recipient of 100% of what this dog has to offer. He's a steadfast companion that takes his relationships seriously.
We're searching for an adult home or a home with older children for Spencer...a retired couple or individual who enjoy spending lots of time with a fuzzy guy would be great! It's not that Spencer dislikes kids..we just feel he'd be more secure in the calmer reliability of an adult or home with kids 12+. He also gets along well with other kind dogs but again we feel he could be happy either way..he could get used to being the one and only. Spencer would blossom with the attention and caring touch of a dedicated family. In this supportive environment, Spencer will glow with joy at his incredible luck. He also loves to please...and when he's successful, he struts his stuff with high self-esteem.
Spencer is a non-shedding (or maybe a hair or 2) pup and will therefore require periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his silky coat healthy and matt-free. He is not suggested for those with severe allergy concerns. Spencer will be completely vetted, neutered and vaccinated prior to transport to fulfill our commitment to adopting out healthy and well-adjusted dogs.

Spencer will arrive on transport in Boulder on 12/5/14. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If interested in this sweet and devoted companion, please fill out and return to farfelsapps@gmail.com.
