Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Lance looked every bit the stray as he came into a very high-kill shelter in Kansas. It was possible that he had never had a haircut or a bath in his entire 3 or so -year life. Lance represents the sad opportunism that is so present in breeding the very popular designer breed mixes. They're treated so poorly and disrespectfully…and then disposed of when their perceived use is over. But…under all that hair and rock-hard matting..the groomers found a truly adorable guy (with the cutest cockeyed ears ever) and the sweetest soul imaginable. Lance deserves a great life every bit as much as any other living being. He has a wonderful disposition and through it all, still has the desire to love and be loved. Lance is never one to turn down an open lap or a friendly canine companion. He tries so hard to show that he's worthy of a permanent family to love and respect him. His beautiful long tail wags hesitantly when he sees a possibility for a pat or any loving gesture. He would be overjoyed if he got attention…it would bring a light to those sad eyes!
Farfel's is searching for that special family for this exceptional Poodle/Yorkie mix (he may have a bit of another breed in there as well..a bit hard to tell.) Lance is clearly a non- shedding guy (made obvious by the severe matts in his ever-growing hair) His coat appears to go in the Yorkie direction and when healthy will lie in shining waves. Lance will therefore require periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his coat beautiful and matt-free. After grooming, all could see the soft glow in those kind eyes that speak of Lance's gentle soul.
We're seeking a family that wants to spend time with a furry best friend. Lance would learn from the gentle guidance and time put in by people who love him…and he will return that devotion a million times over once he understands that he can trust. We feel that Lance would enjoy a retired couple or individual or a family with older children (10+...no tail-pulling or awkward carrying please) who will be gentle and loving toward Lance. He would also be overjoyed with walks in the sunshine. He loves to get up and go...followed by some quality cuddling time on the couch. It's a new life of hope and fun that this sensitive guy is pursuing…he'll be so successful with the knowledge that he is loved and chosen to be a member of a dog-crazy family.
Lance will arrive on transport in Denver on Tuesday 1/6/15. If interested in this sweet and very loving companion, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com.
