Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Max is a very handsome, happy, sweet and sensitive, five-year-old, 55-pound, purebred Shar Pei looking for a loving guardian.
A neighbor noticed Max had been chained to a dog house for most of his young life and convinced his family to give him up to rescue.
Max is a dog with good energy who loves all the attention he can get. Since he grew up as a solitary dog without exposure to many people, other animals and children, he’s best in a home with dog-loving adults and no other pets. While Max keeps his kennel clean, he may need a refresher course in housebreaking when he gets a chance to live in a real home.
Max doesn’t know any formal commands yet, but he is extremely food-motivated and smart enough to learn. He is now well-groomed and actually enjoys being bathed and pampered.
Max is healthy, neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, de-wormed, tested negative for heartworm, on monthly heartworm preventative and micro-chipped. His adoption fee of $250 benefits the rescued dogs of We Luv Paws. To meet and possibly adopt him, you can contact their foster mom Jen at peachesash@aol.com or 630-553-7829. He is living in a kennel Plano, Illinois.
