My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Our Toby is a fanciful little character, full of pep and good cheer. He is an extraordinarily happy dog, with loads of self confidence. Toby came to us from a large animal control facility, where he had spent some time, after Animal Control Officers picked him up as a city stray. He is only one and a half years old, and is already romping down Rescue Road.

The rescue process, and the shelter experience in particular, shakes the core of most dogs, bringing their worst fears to life. Toby floated through the process like Forrest Gump's feather, untouched by the harsh chaos. Toby made friends at every turn and earned some of the best behavior ratings.

He joined our foster home with the same good cheer. He also came to us with a whopping flea problem, that caused an allergic reaction and inflammation around his ears and eyes. Toby went through his treatment with flying colors, and was quite a brave and cooperative patient. He has quickly become everyone's favorite cuddle bug.

Toby is a tiny boy, weighing only seven pounds. He looks like a comical mix of Miniature Pinscher and Chihuahua, and possesses the best qualities of both breeds. He would be a good choice for an active single, couple or family with older kids, who are all on the same page about meeting Toby's exercise and training needs.

Toby likes other dogs and is always up for playtime. He would love to join a multi-dog home, with active pups, and we think that his personality would be conducive to living with dog savvy cats. Toby has good house manners, and is nearly housetrained, but adopters must have realistic expectations of a recently neutered pup, and be prepared to troubleshoot the occasional accident that may occur during his adjustment to a new routine. Toby is crate trained, so adopters have this tool to use in his transition.

Toby is in good health and has been neutered. He has been vaccinated for rabies, DHLPP (distemper, hepatitis, leptospirosis, parvo and parainfluenza), and has been boostered as needed. He has had the 4dx test, and is negative for heartworm, lyme, earlichia and anaplasmosis. He has been dewormed and microchipped.
