My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

There's nothing quite like puppy energy and silliness...and then they lie quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm baby breath. They're so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think of them in a high-kill shelter! Lola, at only 9 months old and about 35 lbs (estimated to be full grown at about 40 - 50 lbs), was facing the end of her life before it ever began. Farfel's Texas rescuers are compassionate and loving and couldn't turn their back on this puppy...they rescued Lola just in time. This sweet and engaging Labradoodle (identified by the shelter and Texas vets as a Doodle..we're never sure if there isn't a bit of Terrier in there. Whatever the mix..Lola is the cutest!) is starting out with great energy...the excellent results of her temperament-testing ended with a transport ticket to Colorado and a new life. Lola is an incredibly beautiful girl...with the gorgeous streaks of whitest white interwoven with the shinin . g chocolate and gold through the waves of Lola's amazing coat. Lola is in need of a spa day. If she doesn't receive this in Texas, Farfel's will be happy to cover the cost of grooming at our Denver groomer. If she does get cleaned- up in Texas, we'll post a photo of the shiny and gorgeous Lola just as soon as we get it.
Lola is appropriately playful and inquisitive for her young age. She'll be perfect for hiking the Colorado mountains..it will bring her the greatest joy! She's so smart...very typical of her cross. The one thing that's clear is that she's an amazing lovebug (would love to be a lap dog if possible). She's bright, happy and so loving...clearly having no memory of her scary start. Since Lola is such a young girl, she's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show her the way. She has all the potential in the world to be an awesome family companion - she'll form firm bonds with her family (as well as other dogs & humans) and learn positive socialization skills through a positive reinforcement group Obedience Classes. It does take time and commitment...yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you in the world with appropriate behavior.
We're open to Lola finding her forever home with an active retired couple or individual with lots of energy to train and enjoy a young pup. Lola is great with children as well but we would prefer to place her in a home with older kids 10+ that can participate in a gentle yet consistent training protocol. Lola will be up to date on her vetting and has been spayed. This fulfills our commitment to adopting out healthy and well-balanced dogs. Lola's fixing prior to adoption is in line with our commitment to being a part of the solution to pet overpopulation.
Lola is a stunning combination of a shedding and a non-shedding breed but already has the curlier coat of the Poodle which indicates a non-shedding or very lightly shedding dog. We don't feel, however, that we can guarantee her suitability for an individual with truly severe allergy challenges.
Lola is currently being fostered in Denver. Meet and Greets are being set up and applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/.
