Facts about Penny (aka Penita)

  • Breed: British Shorthair
  • Color: Tortoiseshell
  • Age: Adult
  • Sex: Female
  • Hair: Short
Penny is a WONDERFUL cat, she loves being with you but doesn't insist on it every second, she talks to you, is playful, loves her little mice. Her coat is like rabbit fur, soft & plush. All she needs now for her life to be complete is her forever home.
Penny, aka Penita, thought she had her forever home. Her life started in Mexico. She was brought into the US as a tiny kitten, spent her first 6 months in a home with a very aggressive, not cat-friendly dog so she was kept in the bedroom. We were asked to take her and find her a better home. We thought we had, she lived in the home for 4 years and then we got a call, "can we take her back" the owner had taken on the responsibility of grandchildren and couldn't deal with both.
After getting her back, I was dump-struck, Penny is no problem, she is not demanding, just extremely loving and no bad habits...I think the former owner was just too overwhelmed with her life, so now Penita needs a new home.
Penny is spayed, microchipped for ID, negative for FeLV/FIV, current on shots, dewormed and flea free.

About Southern Counties Rescue (Mission Viejo, CA)

About Our Rescue Group...

We are an all-volunteer 501(c)3 non-profit cat rescue group (+ a few dogs). We rescue abandoned cats & kittens from the streets and high kill city animal shelters in Orange, Los Angeles, Imperial and San Diego counties.
We also help people who need to rehome their pets through our Community Foster Program in that we post the cats on our internet sites and accept applications for them. We also help the owner screen applicants and bring their cats to our adoption events but we cannot physically take them since we are foster based. We do not have a physical shelter, we foster in our homes, not in cages which is a more natural environment for cats.
Lastly, we help reduce the number of unwanted kittens with TNR (Trap-Netuer/spay-Release) by loaning traps and instructing others on how to TNR and by referring people to low cost S/N clinics.
