I am a funny little pup - a dachshund with giant Corgi ears! I was in a high-kill shelter and my time was up, but these awesome ladies from DREAM found me and thought I deserved a chance. I am heart worm positive, unfortunately. (Boo hiss for my family not giving me heart worm preventative.) But my foster family is helping me get better, and you wouldn't even know I don't feel well!
I am an energetic, very playful guy who needs lots of exercise. I LOVE kids, and I can wrestle and play with them and still be gentle. I don't even mind when my human baby friends take my toys. (See my video for what a patient guy I am with my toddler foster brother!!) I would be the best doggie for a family with young kids who like to run and play. I like to play with my foster fur brother, too, and even though he's smaller than me, I am careful not to hurt him.
I am still a curious puppy who has some growing up to do, so for now I need to be in my crate if my person isn't with me. The good news is that I don't mind my crate as long as you give me a treat! I don't bark very much, either. I just want to please you and be a good boy! Will you let me be a part of your family?
If you are interested in adopting Nimoy, you can fill out an application right on our website! Go to
dreamhappytails.org/adoptform.shtml. Nimoy 's adoption fee is $350. All adoption fees go directly to veterinary care for DREAM dachshunds. Nimoy will go to his new home microchipped, neutered, heartworm tested, and up to date on vaccinations. Most dogs' veterinary expenses are greater than our adoption fees.
DREAM is an all-volunteer rescue group, and we focus on the Atlanta, North Georgia and Savannah area. Because we are all volunteers, we can consider applications only within an hour of these areas. DREAM does not recommend purebred dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a doxie's back.
