Taffy could be that dream come true pup for retirees who love spending their time with a cottony-soft and very smart companion. There's no question Taffy would also do well with gentle older kids 10+ who enjoy the fun that a sweet little dog brings to a family. We'd like only older children in Taffy's family not because she doesn't enjoy young kids...she really does - but because Taffy is only about 14 lbs and approximately 2 - 2.5 years old, we want to make certain she's handled gently and respectfully. Taffy does love playing and is entertaining in her silly antics, youthful energy and the huge love she wants to show to everyone she knows. Taffy's story is all too common in her extremely close call to being euthanized in a scary Kansas shelter....but who could ignore her adorable manner and desire to bond with anyone who would be her best friend? Taffy can initially be a bit shy..but give her a moment (a belly rub and yummy treats are helpful) and she inches just a bit closer to a welcoming lap. Before you know it she's gently loving you with a soft kiss. The awesome Kansas rescuer recognized all of this and knew that there was a home out there that would love, respect and make this sweet girl a permanent member of their family.
Taffy would do well with anyone who's invested in spending time with their pup. She's so pleasant and portable that she can be a part of any adventure....it can be a leisurely walk, a visit with friends, a car ride on vacation or just an afternoon spending time together plopped down on the couch - all of this would speak to Taffy's temperament. We aren't open to a home where everyone spends their days working full-time outside of the home....we'd like Taffy to get more time and attention than is possible with that lifestyle.
Taffy is a non-shedding pup with the softest hair ever (sorry about the awful photo..Taffy had to be shaved due to stickers in her 4 inch long hair..we'll update). She will therefore require periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep her cotton-soft coat healthy and matt-free.
