My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Mason could be that dream come true pup for retirees who love spending their time with a kind and loyal dog who is the most devoted companion around. There's no question that Mason would also do well with gentle older kids (12+ please) who enjoy the fun that a sweet little dog brings to a family. We'd like only older children as part of Mason's family not because he's nasty with young kids, but because he only weighs about 13 lbs at approximately 18 - 24 months old and we want to make certain he's handled gently and respectfully. We don't think that Mason would be happy with the loud voices and occasional rough pokes or tail pulls of very young kids. Mason does love playing and is entertaining in his antics, energy and the love he wants to show to everyone who is kind to him.
The shelter vet identified Mason as a purebred Poodle. We can't commit to his being a purebred and can see the look of a Maltese in his make-up. Either way..both Maltese as well as Poodles are exceptional dogs.
Mason's sad story is all too common in a scary Texas shelter....but who could ignore Mason'a beautiful face with the sweet eyes and wavy cotton-soft coat? Mason also has an adorable manner and a desire to bond with anyone who gives him a bit of time to get over his initial shyness. He will then be a loyal and devoted best friend and before you know it... he's gently loving you with a wag and a kiss. The awesome Texas rescuer recognized all of this and knew that there was a home out there that would love, respect and make this little guy a permanent member of their family.
Mason definitely got some votes for the most matted, shelter-dirty guy ... but with a serious grooming, the beauty of this special pup will become evident (we'll update with a photo).
Mason is a non-shedding guy (considered to be one of the most hypoallergenic) and will therefore require periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his stunning coat healthy and ma cog-loving friends, a car ride on vacation or just an afternoon spending time together plopped down on the couch - all of this would speak to Mason's nature. We aren't open to a home where everyone spends their days working full-time outside of the home....we'd like Mason to get more time and attention than is possible with that lifestyle.
We've requested that Mason be neutered prior to his arrival in Denver. Due to the huge number of dogs in Houston's shelters, they can't always fulfill our request. If they don't, Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs (if our vet is used) for Mason's neuter,

Mason will be arriving on transport in Boulder on 4/24/15. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If you're interested in this kind and devoted companion, please fill out and return to farfelsapps@gmail.com.
