My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

There is no girl on earth that can be a more loving, devoted and just generally greater dog than Pearl. At about 5.5 years old (such a great age...old enough to be done with babyish behavior and young enough to have many active years ahead) Pearl received one of the best temperament reports ever. Her current Pueblo foster mom said it the best: Pearl's lifelong mom initially got her because she stood out from the other dogs...she has this wisdom about her. Now, sadly, Pearl's person is going into assisted living and can't bring Pearl along. Farfel's rescuer was contacted and I, as her foster, went over to introduce myself to Pearl. I sat down amongst the dogs and almost immediately Pearl was in my lap...not frenetically...but super-quiet and so calm! Pearl looked up with those amazing eyes that told a thousand stories and I was completely in love! I knew Farfel's had to find the MOST special home for this gentle spirit! At just about 5.5 years old and 12 lbs, Pearl is everything a family could possibly want in any dog. Our first night together, she took her place on my bed...not intrusively but so respectfully. It was as if she was considering my comfort before her own. In the morning, there was no morning agitation or barking...Pearl is so low-key (expecially compared to my 3 crazy dogs) that she just quietly (no barking...yay) followed me to the yard...and then inside for breakfast. She was so wonderful with the other dogs (she definitely stood out as the mellowest and most sensible of the 4) and the insane activity of the 3 kids didn't seem to bother her at all. As a matter of fact, the one thing that her long-term mom asked before relinquishing Pearl was that she get placed in a family with children...she absolutely loves them and is a sweet and loyal best friend!
Pearl would never consider having an accident in the house...way beneath her dignity! She's so respectful of her home and her family's possessions that it's wonderful.
Pearl really enjoys her morning and evening long walks - once again she's always perfectly friendly and very easy to manage. I had one of my mellowest walks ever today. There are never any worries about aggression toward other dogs and only a wagging tail for everyone along the route. Finally I went to work in my home office...Pearl curled up on my lap with a smile on her adorable face.
As far as Pearl's breed mix...her mom is sure she's a Westie/Maltese mix and we'll go along with that. She is a non-vocal girl and doesn't have the super high-energy terrier qualities. All we're sure of is that Pearl is pure love. She's an absolute pleasure to have in my home!!'
Since Pearl is a non-shedder (and has a beautiful, silky coat) she will require periodic baths/brushing and great nutrition to keep her coat healthy and soft. Pearl is fully vetted/temperament tested to fulfill our commitment to only adopting out healthy, well-adjusted dogs.
Pearl will be arriving in Denver in mid- May. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If you're interested in this sweet and cuddly best friend, please fill out and return to farfelsapps@gmail.com.
