My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

What an incredibly intelligent and very loving girl this Schnauzer/Dachshund is! We initially though that this was a very unusual mix...now we think it's the most endearing and sweet! Sally, at 24 lbs (such a perfect size for hiking the Colorado mountains) was rescued by a Farfel's Texas rescuer at a great time in her development...between 10 and 14 months old. This was, thankfully, before she developed characteristics that spoke of the neglect and poverty that had been her life. Sally is a survivor and could teach us all a bit about life....no pup could have a more positive attitude and greater love affair going on with the world. You can always tell by the wag and the smile that Sally is so grateful for anything that comes her way. Her greatest joy and dream come true is getting chosen for the transport between Houston and Boulder. It was Sally's great temperament and engaging personality that secured this ticket to a new life.

Sally's Texas foster had the following to say about this personality-plus girl:

Sally is here!! And boy is she full of positive energy and fun. She is very human-loving and dog friendly. Sally absolutely adores being adored! I love caring for her...she's a good eater, an explorer, and incredibly cute! Sally will come when you call her... I make kissy noises and then I love to give her treats - she's so grateful and sweet! Sally truly desires to please - she would be so receptive to positive reinforcement group obedience training. Long walks (and a future of hikes on Colorado trails) are perfect for this energetic and social pup. We power-walk on many mornings for several miles - it's great for Sally's physical needs and makes her calmer and more serene for the remainder of the day. She would be a dream-come-true for a runner or winter snow-shoer.
Sally has definitely lived in a house before, and made herself very comfortable already in mine! She is always very respectful of my possessions and my space. She's very clean about herself!
Sally is great at sit and is very eager to please, which will make her future training a breeze! She's capable of being an amazing and very well-behaved dog. Sally needs a human leader who won't let her walk or jump on them in her love and excitement. With positive consistency, Sally is open to learning every skill as long as she understands what is being asked of her.
Sally is VERY crated trained (walks in and out on her own) and potties outside only. She is a cuddler and a snuggler once her exercise needs are met and her puppy energy is directed into play and positive activities (like backyard fun with her humans) and fenced dog parks for running and social time. Sally will make a loyal (and incredibly adorable) companion to a very active family with the desire to train a very smart and loyal companion. Sally is very dog friendly and absolutely loves meeting new people.

Sally appears to be a non-shedding girl (I was wearing a white shirt while I hugged her and not a hair).
Sally's coat is soft as cotton. I loved petting her and she loved it even more...what a cuddly sweetie-pie! Sally has the most beautiful coat with the most incredible markings ever. If Sally is given the benefit of periodic baths, brushing and excellent nutrition with the benefit of salmon oil - her hair will take on the very healthy...and so soft feel of a well-fed and well taken care of young dog.

Sally is being fostered in Denver. Meet and Greets are being set up and applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/.
