Here's what the humans have to say about me:
We got a very concerned email from Texas about sweet Melvin ...the shelter was set on finding a home for this unusually beautiful (with the most amazing eyes that speak of great wisdom) and very loving Long Haired Dachshund. Melvin has been recognized for his goodness and sweet personality (and his beauty always attracts admirers everywhere he goes). But as stunning as Melvin is on the outside (although this poor guy will be so happy after a sudsy bath and new hairdo) it just doesn't compare with the love and good-will that flows from the heart of this pup.
Melvin aced his temperament testing (he passed with flying colors) and got a perfect on his vetting assessment. So...off he went to his foster home...to be reminded of respectful house skills and to wait for his transport to Denver and a brand new life. Since Melvin has gotten an A for sweetness, cuddling and general positive behavior...he's ready to be a devoted family member. We envision him in a home either with older and very gentle children who can cuddle and love Melvin with a light touch or he'd be a natural in a home with retirees who will shower time and attention on this devoted and engaging pup.
We would never want Melvin in a situation where he's alone for many hours. Instead we would love for him to be taken along on walks, adventures and visits with dog-loving friends. He's almost impossible not to fall in love with...his manner speaks of sweetness. Melvin also travels like a champ - he loves nothing more than coming along on errands, socializing visits and any adventure that keeps him together with those he loves. Melvin would also be a natural to come along on vacations or getaways (and is a perfect companion and lap dog at 18 - 24 months old and 15 lbs..so easy to scoop up and take along)...he's so pleasant with everyone that he attracts admirers everywhere he goes. But it will definitely be the special lap and familiar touch that will draw Melvin back to his family every time...he's a one-family guy!
Melvin will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Friday 6/26/15. If interested in this adorable and sweet...and often very entertaining companion, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com.
