My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We got a very concerned email from Arkansas about sweet Dugan ...the shelter was set on finding a home for this unusually beautiful (with the most amazing eyes that speak of great wisdom) and very loving Dachshund/Terrier. Dugan has been recognized for his goodness and sweet personality (and his beauty always attracts admirers everywhere he goes). But as stunning as Melvin is on the outside (although this poor guy will be so happy after a sudsy bath) it just doesn't compare with the love and good-will that flows from the heart of this pup.

Dugan aced his temperament testing (he passed with flying colors) and got a perfect score on his vetting assessment. So...off he went to his foster home...to be reminded of respectful house skills and to wait for his transport to Denver and a brand new life. Since Dugan has gotten an A for sweetness, cuddling and general positive behavior...he's ready to be a devoted family member. We envision him in a home either with very gentle children who can cuddle and love Dugan with a light touch or he'd be a natural in a home with retirees who will shower time and attention on this devoted and engaging puppy.

We would never want Dugan in a situation where he's alone for many hours. Instead we would love for him to be taken along on walks, adventures and visits with dog-loving friends. He's almost impossible not to fall in love with...his manner speaks of sweetness and fun. Dugan also travels like a champ - he loves nothing more than coming along on errands, socializing visits and any adventure that keeps him together with those he loves. Dugan would also be a natural to come along on vacations or getaways (and is a perfect companion and lap dog.)

Dugan, being a 4-month old puppy is a blank slate just waiting for kind guidance and leadership. Puppy socialization classes would be perfect for this very social puppy. He loves everyone and this will develop knowledge of cause and effect for this little guy as well as bonding with his family.

At about 12 lbs (estimated to be approximately 25 lbs when full-grown) - Dugan will be a perfect size for running, hiking and snowshoeing in the Colorado mountains. Dugan is so pleasant with everyone that he attracts admirers everywhere he goes. But it will definitely be the special lap and familiar touch that will draw Dugan back to his family every time...he's a one-family guy!

Dugan was considered by the Arkansas vets to be too young to be neutered. Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs for Dugan's fixing and microchip at our Denver vet after his arrival in Colorado.

Dugan will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Friday 7/10/15. If interested in this adorable and sweet...and often very entertaining best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com.
