My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We're so glad that Nicholas was able to stay safe as he waited in vain to be claimed at a very high-kill Texas shelter. His safety became questionable when he was slated for euthanasia due to a lack of space. No way that Farfel's could let that happen to this Terrier mix with the great temperament! Arrangements were quickly made...and Nicholas left the shelter just in the nick of time.

This truly beautiful 12 - 18 months old, 11 lb Terrier mix left all the pain and misery of his previous life behind as he acclimated to the security of a house, great nutrition and lots of love and belly rubs! We found...to our delight...that Nicholas (while initially a bit shy) warms up and is so engaging. He truly enjoys his time with his people...especially if it's about snuggling or long walks. Since Nicholas has been deprived of human attention for at least a part of his life, he needs a bit of assurance that he's loved in a forever sort of way. He seemed to be a bit unsure... but we notice that he gains confidence every day that he interacts with well-meaning and kind humans. We envision Nicholas in a home with a gentle, like-sized canine sibling and guardians that choose to spend lots of time having fun with their dogs. Nicholas would be ecstatic to spend this quality time and would definitely form a fast and forever bond. He wants to please like none other...it almost seems like he's gathered the wisdom that guides him toward great behavior and very positive and polite interaction with virtually everyone he encounters. No stress in taking Nicholas to social situations...he gets along so well with everyone. He's a pleasure to be with! A loving family that has the time and desire to form a close relationship with a pup that truly deserves it is our goal for our exceptional Nicholas.

What his foster parents have to say:

"Nicholas is such an endearing little boy. You can’t help but smile when he’s around. He can be very playful (loves chasing toys), and then roll on his back, legs spread, waiting for a belly rub. On walks, this little boy’s legs go VERY quickly, and I guarantee, if you aren’t in shape now, you will be, after walking Nicholas daily. He is also up for hiking –although his legs are short, he loves it! Initially, we were a bit concerned about his chasing our two cats, but after a couple weeks, they are all sharing a large dog bed & getting along well. Nicholas also loves car rides. It seems the movement really relaxes him, and he could be happy riding for hours. He is very friendly and wins people over with his adoring disposition. A family that could provide lots of playtime, and just “hangout” time would be a dream come true for Nicholas."
.
Nicholas is a non-shedding or low shedding guy with hair that we've had so much fun styling. We've picked the mohawk as our favorite and Nicholas seems to think he looks great (self-esteem boost for the little guy). Nicholas will therefore require periodic baths, brushing and great nutrition to keep his shaggy (yet so beautiful) Terrier coat healthy and matt-free.

Nicholas is being fostered in Boulder. Meet and Greets are being set up and applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/.
