My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

When Blake's rescuer (Blake was saved from a very high-kill rural Oklahoma shelter) walked this very beautiful and oh- so- gentle guy down the trail, she was stopped over and over by other walkers inquiring, What kind of dog is that? and... Oh my, he has the most beautiful eyes I've ever seen! It's true...Blake is a stunning mix of a Dachshund and the adorable scruffiness of a Cairn Terrier... extremely eye-catching and so very sweet!. When he turns that SO gentle look in your direction, you can't help but be mesmerized by his wise and soulful look. It speaks of difficult times for such a young pup. Blake is only about 12 months old and weighs approximately 14 lbs. But, fortunately, it's clear that he has left the pain behind...he couldn't be more gentle and confident.

Blake approaches life with a wisdom that seems to always light his way. Farfel's Rescue is searching for either retirees or a family with children 12 plus for Blake. It's not that he doesn't like young kids...we just feel he'll be happier in a calmer environment. An active retired couple or individual would make Blake very happy. He would thrive on the time and attention...and at the end of the day, would like nothing better than to cuddle up and be the most loving lap dog ever. Blake is also so loyal and kind that it makes him very easy to spend time with just enjoying the wonders of life in Colorado. He's a perfect size to enjoy hiking beautiful trails and paths in the sunshine. He's also small enough to be very portable for car trips and errands around the city...truly a full-time companion! Blake would also enjoy time with other dogs who have the potential to be gentle playmates. When you're only 12 or so lbs, even a very well-adjusted pup can be intimidated by very rambunctious dogs.

Blake has the most gorgeous scruffy-type, non-shedding coat. He'll require periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his hair healthy and matt-free. Once groomed and given this high-quality nutrition, Blake will grow a healthy, shining coat that speaks of the texture of the Dachshund and has the fawn and golden streaks of a scruffy Terrier.

Blake will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Friday morning 8/1/15. If you're interested in this sweet, endearing and often entertaining pup, please fill out and return to farfelsapps@gmail.com or mail a hard copy to Farfel's Farm 906 Pearl Street Boulder, CO 80302.
