My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

When Skippy's rescuer walked down the aisle of the dismal Texas shelter, she was shocked to see the adorable (and extremely dirty and matted) Skippy tucked tightly into a cage...his time was up. Farfel's immediately got a call describing how cute and sweet this Jack Russell is..and the need to save his life. We immediately agreed and Skippy became a very treasured Farfel's dog. He earned a ticket to a wonderful new life in Colorado with his great personality and positive attitude toward the world.

At about 18 - 24 months old and 26 lbs, this very beautiful pup is a blank slate just waiting for positive input and guidance to be the best dog he's capable of being. We'd love to match Skippy to a family that will spend lots of time with this very portable guy. He's a perfect size to accompany his family just about anywhere...and would love it. Positive reinforcement group obedience class would be a great choice for Skippy. It will not only provide socialization and great skills...but will cement the relationship between Skippy and his family. Skippy gets lots of attention when he's out and about...he's very engaging (while definitely a bit shy at first) and as sweet as can be. He's also extremely eye-catching...he appears to be a purebred Jack Russell but we would never swear to it. We just don't see another breed in this beautiful dog. When Skippy turns that gentle look in your direction, you can't help but smile at the wisdom deep in his eyes. You can see just a bit of a sign that this young guy has had difficult times. But not for him to be negative..a smile and a wag is more Skippy's style. It's clear that Skippy has made every effort to leave his pain behind.

Farfel's Rescue is searching for an adult family (or with older kids 10+) for Skippy. It''s not that he doesn't like young kids...we just feel he wouldn't be comfortable with any tail-pulling or awkward carrying. A retired couple or individual would be perfect for this pup. He would thrive on the time and attention that retirees often put into their pets. Skippy, once bonded, will be a loyal and positive companion....that makes him very easy to spend time with just enjoying the wonders of life in Colorado. Skippy would also enjoy time with dogs of similar size who can be gentle playmates. When you're only 26 lbs, even a very well-adjusted pup can be intimidated by large, rambunctious dogs.

The shelter photo absolutely doesn't do this very beautiful dog justice. We've requested that Skippy be groomed prior to his transport to Colorado. If this doesn't occur, Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs if our Denver groomer is used.

Skippy will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Friday 8/14/15. Applications are being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/.
