My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We got a desperate call from Kansas about Mandy...an 18 - 24 month old, 15 lb Schnauzer/Terrier mix. The shelter was desperate to find a home for this unusually gorgeous and very loving Schnauzer. This sweet girl has such lovely coloring with the most amazing markings. But as beautiful as Mandy is on the outside, it just doesn't compare with the love and good-will that flows from the heart of this little girl. As our rescuer drove away from the dreary rural shelter, Mandy was so filled with joy and relief that she climbed into her lap, breathed a huge sigh of relief and fell fast asleep. She slept all the way to the vet's office for her temperament testing (she passed with flying colors) and got a "perfect" on her vetting assessment. So...off she went to her foster home...to be reminded of respectful house skills and to wait for her transport to Denver and a brand new life.

Since Mandy has gotten an A+ for sweetness, cuddling and general positive behavior…she's ready to be a devoted family member. We envision her in a home either with children who can play with and love Mandy with a gentle touch, or in a home with retirees who will shower time and attention on this devoted and super-loving girl.

We would never want Mandy in a situation where she's alone for many hours. Instead we would love for her to be taken along on hikes, adventures and even visits with dog-loving friends. She's almost impossible not to fall in love with...her manner speaks of softness and light. Mandy also travels like a champ - she loves nothing more than to come along on errands, hikes and any adventure that keeps her together with those she loves. She would also be a natural to come along on vacations or getaways…she's so pleasant with everyone that she attracts admirers everywhere she goes.

Mandy is a non-shedding girl and will therefore require periodic grooming and great nutrition. We know her shaved-off hairdo is very severe and doesn't show her beauty with the soft waves of her silver coat. But in a short time, Mandy's hair will grow in and have the shine and color that the Schnauzer is famous for.

Farfel's has requested that Mandy be spayed prior to her transport to Colorado. We're not optimistic that this will occur due to too many dogs and not enough vets in this rural area of Kansas. If it does not, Farfel's will be happy to cover the costs for spaying and a microchip at our Denver vet.

Mandy will be arriving on transport in Denver on Tuesday 8/18/15. If you're interested in this sweet, endearing and often entertaining pup, please fill out and return to farfelsapps@gmail.com, fax to 303-443-7730 or mail a hard copy to Farfel's Farm 906 Pearl Street Boulder, CO 80302.
