My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

There's nothing quite like puppy energy and silliness...and then they lie quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm baby breath. They're so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think of them in a high-kill shelter! Rowen, at only 14 - 16 weeks old and about 5 lbs (is estimated to be full grown at about 10 - 12 lbs), was facing the end of his life before it ever began. Farfel's Kansas rescuers are compassionate and loving and couldn't turn their back on this young puppy...they lovingly rescued Rowen just in the nick of time.

Rowen is starting out with great energy and has proven himself to be a strong and resilient baby. Rowen survived a mild case of parvo last month, was treated and now released by the Kansas vets as COMPLETELY HEALTHY and ready for his forever home. The excellent results of Rowen's vetting, baby temperament-testing (and of course his cottony coat and adorable puppy face didn't hurt) resulted in a transport ticket to Colorado and a new life.

Rowen is appropriately playful and inquisitive for his young age. He appears to be so smart...very typical of the cross of a these small Yorkie/Schnauzer mixes. He's bright and so loving...clearly having no memory of his scary start. Since Rowen is just a baby, he's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show him the way. Rowen has all the potential in the world to be an awesome adult companion - he would form firm bonds with his family (as well as other dogs and humans) and learn positive socialization skills through Puppy Socialization Class followed by group Obedience Classes. It does take a bit of time and commitment...yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you in the world with appropriate behavior.

We're open to Rowen finding his forever home with a retired couple or individual with lots of energy to train and enjoy a puppy. Rowen seems to love children as well but we would prefer to place him in a home with older kids (10+) that can participate in a gentle yet consistent training regiment. Rowen will be up to date on his vetting, however is considered to be too young to neuter. Farfel's will be happy to cover the neutering costs as well as any further vaccinations/microchip necessary at our vet in Denver.

The shelter photo of Rowen in no way does this beautiful puppy justice. He has the most beautiful coat that needs a grooming to show the amazing colors that run through his cotton-soft hair. We've requested that Rowen be groomed prior to his transport. If this doesn't occur, Farfel's will cover the cost of a bath/haircut at our Denver groomer that Rowen so deserves.

Rowen is an adorable combination of 2 non-shedding breeds and therefore should (and appears to be) a non-shedding pup. Due to his young age, however, we don't feel we can guarantee his suitability for an individual with severe allergy challenges.

Rowen will arrive on transport in Denver on Tuesday 8/18/15. . If interested in this snuggly and loving puppy, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com.
