My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, Warrior here, recruiting a new home! MMR named me that, not because I am a fighter, in fact, I am a real love bug, but because I am a survivor. They call me Rory for short. I was picked up by a Good Samaritan after I was found on my own in rural Idaho. My savior attempted to find my owner, but they evidently no longer wanted me, so he took me in and called MMR to help find me a new home. I am a veteran, with some arthritis in my hips and healed fly bites on my ears. I was in quite scruffy condition when found, and in need of some grooming, groceries, and water. I am in boarding right now, and with the help of volunteers I am learning to sit, down, and walk on leash. It is a little harder for me to pay attention sometimes, because I am also partially deaf, but please don’t let a little flaw keep you away! I am a happy, loving fellow who is very smart….I am learning hand and leash signals, and I am good at reading body language; you just need to get my attention with a laser pointer, flashing light, or a tug on the leash. I am also a talker and a face washer. I am good with older kids, and non reactive to other dogs. I would do well in a home with a friendly female dog. A regime of light exercise, buffered dog aspirin, and a supplement regimen has dramatically improved my gait and my ability to pull my handler wherever I want them to go (joking, I mostly go where I am led…mostly). I don’t need a retirement home, because I am an active fellow who wants to be busy, but I am more of the long walk kind of guy, not a jogging partner. Because I am in boarding it is unknown how much house training I have had, but since I am a smart willing fellow, I know I can learn whatever you want to teach me. I am so very lonely in boarding. I don’t understand why I was simply left behind, but I still adore people and really want a loving home of my own that will never leave me again. Are you my hope for a happy new life? Please say YES!
