My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

There's nothing quite like puppy energy and silliness...and then they lie quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm baby breath. They're so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think of them in a high-kill shelter!

Shyla, at only 16 weeks old and 13 lbs (is estimated to be full grown at about 25 - 30 lbs), was facing the end of her life before it ever began. Farfel's Texas rescuers are compassionate and loving and couldn't turn their back on this puppy...they rescued Shyla just in time. This sweet and engaging Aussie is starting out with great energy...the excellent results of her temperament-testing ended with a transport ticket to Colorado and a new life.

Shyla is also an incredibly beautiful puppy...with her gorgeous red merle coat with the purest of white running through it. Her dark puppy eyes show wisdom far beyond her age...and so filled with love and good will.

Shyla is appropriately playful and inquisitive for her young age. She's so smart and very engaging...so typical of an Aussie mix. Shyla is also bright and loving...clearly having no memory of her scary start. Since she is just a baby, Shyla's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show her the way. She has all the potential in the world to be an awesome companion - she will form firm bonds with her family (as well as other dogs & humans) and learn positive socialization skills through Puppy Socialization Class followed by positive reinforcement group Obedience Classes. It does take time and commitment...yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a companion dog that can accompany you in the world with appropriate behavior.

We'd love for Shyla to be a member of a family. Her Boulder foster loves Shyla and feels that she'd be a gift to any home. She's a puppy that has that special gift...she's great with children of all ages (please no tail pulling) and all adults. Shyla has no biases...she'll be a loyal companion and loving best friend to any family who loves and respects her..and makes her feel safe by providing kind and clear boundaries. Family members that can participate in a consistent training regimen would be great. They would get the chance to watch Shyla blossom with their participation and enjoy the special talents and intelligence of an Aussie

UPDATE ON SHYLA - Shyla's Boulder foster gave this beautiful puppy an A+ in every category of behavior! She said Shyla has perfect (she truly said PERFECT!) behavior with the sweetest and most engaging personality she's ever seen in any puppy...Yay Shyla!

Shyla will be up to date on her vetting. She has received her puppy shots and has been spayed to be in line with our commitment to be a part of the solution to pet overpopulation.

Shyla is being fostered in Boulder. Meet and Greets are currently being set up and applications/inquires are welcome. If interested in this sweet, very loving and fun puppy, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com.
