Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Pops is a fun-loving, 60-pound, three-year-old, skinny and strong, male, chocolate and vanilla pit bull-mix looking for a loving foster guardian.
Pops was adopted from Friends of Animal Care and Control earlier this year, but I just found out that his dad is being hospitalized in intensive care. He may be able to take Pops back after recovery, but Pops may need a new loving home. He could live in an apartment or house, he’s not picky as long as he gets the daily exercise he loves.
He previously lived with a German Shepherd and Chihuahua with whom he got along beautifully. Pops plays in play groups but gets a little nervous around male dogs that are much larger than himself. Pops also loves chew his toys and bones. After his exercise, he is relaxed and low-key in the home.
Pops is an extremely responsive, highly trainable, food-motivated and smart guy who has quickly learned the commands: sit, down, touch, salute and paw. He looks right into your eyes with his gorgeous amber eyes for direction. He is housebroken and crate-trained.
Before being adopted in April of this year, Pops landed at Chicago Animal Care and Control when his human went to prison. It was Pops’ lucky break. The poor guy appeared to have lived as the only dog in the home but had so many bite marks, scars and fly bites; it’s hard to say what he endured. He also had an embedded collar, so he has a furless ring that goes right around his neck.
While he may have some marks and physical scars, he has no emotional scars from his past. He lets anyone touch him anywhere. He’s wonderful with everyone. In fact, he squeals with delight when you scratch his butt. Otherwise he is a surprisingly quiet dog who loves to snuggle. Pops would do beautifully in a home with another dog or as the only dog if he got out to play regularly. He will do best without cats in the home.
If you are interested in adopting Pops please contact Diana at diana@windycitybootcamp.com or 773-899-1960. His adoption fee of $200 benefits the Friends of Chicago Animal Care and Control. He is healthy, neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, micro-chipped and heartworm tested.
