My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

What a sweet and kind Poodle our Trevor is! Poodles continue to be a designer breed that is opportunistically being bred for their intelligence, adorable teddy-bear looks, non-shedding cottony soft coats and great temperaments. As a result of this human greed, these pups are being bred, sold for very high prices or dumped if they become inconvenient. Farfel's is very happy to rescue these dogs and find them nurturing and committed homes.

At about 2.5 - 3 years old and 16 lbs, Trevor is an incredibly beautiful guy. It's unusual to find a chocolate poodle (with that pure white stripe down his chest) in a high-kill shelter.

We all know Trevor has arrived when we see the wag that starts at his tail and becomes a full-blown body wiggle...Trevor is greeting either a friend or anyone who has the potential to be a future playmate. He is initially cautious...assessing the situation to make sure all is OK. This makes perfect sense as he's been through time spent at a high-kill shelter waiting for his pending euthanasia date. When he was identified with a great temperament, Farfel's spoke up to bring Trevor to safety (and a new forever family) in Colorado.

Once he senses that all present are his friends, Trevor is so warm and friendly that he always hopes every pat and kind word will turn into a friend. Both people and other dogs are drawn to Trevor for his kind attitude and playful ways. He is learning to play with toys and waits expectantly... so bright and joyful..to examine a new playtoy with all its possibilities. Trevor seems to have a bit of leash experience and is developing his skills. He seems to love the experience.

Farfel's Rescue has determined that Trevor needs a mellow home where he is an active and important member of the family. We feel that this would be more possible in an adult home (retirees would be perfect) where there's a more predictable environment. Trevor would be overjoyed to spend parts of the day together either hiking or walking through the beauty of Colorado. Then at day's end, he's the ultimate snuggler and sleeps soundly through the night.

It is Trevor's love affair with life and all the hardships that he's suffered along the way that motivates Farfel's to save the life of a dog with cataracts. We have rescued these dogs before and all have lived long life-spans with the ability to participate fully in life. Farfel's would also offer to create on-line fund raising and an in-store event at Farfel's to raise funds to fix Trevor's cataract and therefore give him the lifelong gift of vision. We're so grateful to the giving rescue vets that make it possible for us to help these special dogs.

Trevor (like all dogs) would benefit from positive reinforcement obedience classes that included the whole family - he is a super-smart guy who truly wants to please. Great training will give Trevor the skills to be an excellent adult dog. These type of classes will also bring out the great qualities of this special Poodle as well as creating a tightly-knit bonding with all family members
.
Trevor is a non-shedding pup (considered to be one of the most hypoallergenic breeds) with a beautiful chocolate-colored coat with such a distinctive chest stripe. He will require periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his hair healthy, cottony-soft and matt-free.

Trevor will arrive on transport in Denver on 11/20/15. Applications are currently being accepted and can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/. If interested in this sweet and devoted companion, please fill out and return to farfelsapps@gmail.com.
