My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

What a scary world it is out there when you're homeless and hungry...especially when you only weigh 8 lbs. Zen, a very beautiful 18 - 24 month old Cairn Terrier/Poodle mix (this shelter photo absolutely doesn't do this cutie-pie justice..we'll update just as soon as we get a new photo) found herself in this situation through no fault of her own. Her plight was the result of irresponsibility and neglect...such a sad statement for the level of care that a human bestowed on this harmless dog.

Zen was the luckiest girl around that day...she was discovered and rescued by wonderful shelter personnel who felt compassion when they realized how sweet and vulnerable Zen was. She was a matted mess on the outside..but nothing but pure and grateful devotion on the inside!

Zen's foster brought her home and dedicated herself to caring for her...and reassuring her abandoned psyche that she was safe. After many efforts to find Zen's original family...the decision was made that she deserved a new life in Colorado. Zen would love leisurely walks in the sunshine...she is overjoyed being outside and is capable of being a devoted companion around the neighborhood.

Zen is definitely searching for a human friend that she can devote her heart to....and that person will be the recipient of 100% of what this little dog has to offer. She's a steadfast companion that takes her relationships seriously. We're searching for an adult home for Zen...a retired couple or individual who enjoy spending lots of time with a fuzzy best friend would be perfect! It's not that Zen dislikes kids..we just feel she'd be more secure in the calmer reliability of an adult home.

Zen has gotten along well with most other dogs...she's definitely a little pup with a big personality! We feel Zen could be happy as the one and only as well. She will blossom with the attention and caring touch of a dedicated family. In this environment, Zen will glow with joy at her incredible luck. She loves to please...and when she's successful, she struts her stuff with high self-esteem.

We've requested that Zen be groomed prior to her transport to Colorado. If this doesn't occur, Farfel's is happy to cover the costs for a spa day at our Denver groomer's salon. DJ appears to be a non-shedding pup and will therefore require periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep her cotton-soft coat healthy and matt-free.

Zen has been completely vetted...at that time it was found that she has a cherry eye. This is a condition where a dog will develop a small red mass in the lower part of the eye. It doesn't interfere with vision but is extremely uncomfortable for the dog. This is easily corrected with no long-term challenges...Farfel's is happy to cover costs for the procedure to correct this if our Denver vet is used.

Zen will be arriving on transport in Boulder on 1/8/16 . Applications can be found at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/.
