My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

There's nothing quite like puppy energy and silliness...and then they lie quietly on your shoulder breathing their warm baby breath. They're so pure and vulnerable that it's unbearable to think of them in a high-kill shelter! Patrick, at only 16 weeks old and 19 lbs (is estimated to be full grown at about 40 lbs - perfect hiking, running and snowshoeing size), was facing the end of his life before it ever began. Farfel's Texas rescuers are compassionate and loving and couldn't turn their back on this puppy...they rescued Patrick just in time.

This sweet and engaging Schnauzer/Terrier mix is starting out with great energy...the excellent results of his temperament-testing ended with a transport ticket to Colorado and a new life. He's also incredibly beautiful...with a gorgeous dark and shiny coat and his scruffy face that is so cute. Patrick's dark eyes are so wise and expressive for such a young puppy.

Patrick is appropriately playful and inquisitive for his young age. He's so smart and very engaging...so typical of a Schnauzer/Terrier mix. He's also bright and loving...clearly having no memory of his scary start. Since Patrick is just a baby, he's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show him the way. He has all the potential in the world to be an awesome companion - he will form firm bonds with his family (as well as other dogs and humans) and learn positive socialization skills through Puppy Socialization Class followed by positive reinforcement group Obedience Classes. It does take time and commitment...yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you in the world with appropriate behavior.

We're open to Patrick finding his forever home with a very active retired couple or individual with lots of energy to train and enjoy a puppy. Patrick is great with children as well but we would prefer to place him in a home with older kids that can participate in a gentle yet consistent training regimen.

Patrick will be up to date on his vetting...he will have all vaccinations and be neutered to be in line with our commitment to zero population growth.

Patrick will be arriving on transport in Denver on 1/8/16. If interested in this cuddly and fun best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com.
