My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi, my name is Taco, and I am patiently waiting with my foster parents until I can be united with my forever family. At eight years old, I am covered in tan fur with big, adorable soft eyes, and I weigh approximately ten pounds (but my foster mom has me on a diet!). The only reason that I ended up in foster care was because both of my previous mom's passed away, but I really hope that I can finally settle in one place for the rest of my life with someone who will truly love me as their own.

I am a little shy at first, but after I understand that you are only trying to love me, I will follow you around everywhere and try to jump in your lap when you sit down. Since both of my previous, long-term parents were female, girls are definitely my preference although I can adjust to men with a little additional time. My favorite thing in the whole world is jumping up in your lap and being rubbed from head to toe. If your hand gets tired and you stop petting too soon, I will try to remind you that I still need additional scratches by nosing your hand and looking sadly at you. I also love to sleep under the covers in your bed all night long. My foster mom has little stairs by the bed, which are very convenient to use as my objective is to climb in bed as soon as you do.

In the mornings, I will run outside to use the bathroom. Furthermore, I am very quiet and comfortable inside my crate, and sometimes, you might forget that I am there. When you are ready to leave, and as long as you give me a treat, I will sleep quietly until you come home to rescue me. When you return and open the door to my crate, I will wait patiently until you put on my harness to take me outside. I am very good at waiting until I can go in the grass to pee, and I never have accidents inside!

It may take a little while for new people to gain my trust, and sometimes, I am easily frightened. However, after I understand that you only want to be my friend, my main goal is to see how quickly I can jump in your lap and curl up for a nap. Please, be patient with me because I just want to know that I can feel safe with you. Also, I do well with other dogs, but I am very shy and sometimes intimidated by more dominant personalities. I will always let others take my spot or my treats if they want, and I never act aggressively.

I am currently in perfect health with a little hefty physique. I want to continue to lose weight, and I love to venture outside and smell new things, so I hope my new family likes to go for long walks (as long as it is not too cold or wet!!). My foster mom calls me her perfect, little gentleman because I am so calm and quiet. My current temporary home is in Louisville, KY, but my foster mom has promised me that she will transport me to my new forever home.

Now that I have told you a little about myself, please contact my foster family and tell them a little bit about you! I hope that I will be able to meet you soon and become a valued member of your family. Thank you so much for giving me a chance to be part of your life!
