My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sparky is a very well-loved, little dog who is currently being fostered collectively by a veterinarian office after he was brought in to be euthenized. He had been living with his former owner in an assisted living facility for the past several years. He was brought to the vet after he reportedly nipped at someone at the facility although it did not break the skin, and the incident was not reported to the authorities. The doctor refused to euthenize him and instead offered to keep him as a surrender at the vet and look for a potential adopter with a more quiet home where he could live many more years. In the vet's opinion, Sparky is not a vicious dog, and he believes that there were other circumstances that may have caused him to bite someone. (Chihuahuas have a tendency to be fearful and untrusting of strangers especially when the person tries to pick up or grab them unexpectantly). In fact, he is currently so well-loved at the vet office that they are trying to raise a collection to pay for his care and find a new, loving, forever home for him.

Sparky is a 10 year old, neutered Chihuahua who may or may not be good around other dogs. However, he seems to be okay with the clinic cats. A household with children or lots of activity is not recommended for him. The vet believes he needs a quiet home where there is not a lot of stress or noise.

Sparky is a typical, nervous Chihuahua who needs time to gain trust and warm up to someone. However, Sparky has been wonderful with the staff at the office, and he has not bitten anyone there (although he does not enjoy taking any medication). He has been a very happy-go-lucky little guy. He is up to date on his vaccinations and microchipped. The vet currently has him on a diet as he does need to lose a couple pounds. According to his medical records, he has bilateral luxating patellas, which could be helped by the weight loss as well. He is on flea / tick prevention as well as heartworm prevention.

Sparky would love to find a forever home who would love him as much as the kind people at the vet office who saved him from his sad fate.
