My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We got a desperate email from Texas about sweet Loki...the shelter was desperate to find a home for this very sweet (with the most beautiful, dark eyes that speak of great wisdom) and loving Miniature Schnauzer/scruffy Terrier mix.

Loki was recognized for his goodness and sweet personality (and his Schnauzer cuteness always attracts admirers everywhere he goes). But as cute as Loki is on the outside (although this poor guy appears to never have had a bath or grooming in his short life)...it just doesn't compare with the love and good-will that flows from the heart of this wonderful pup. We'll be replacing Loki's sad shelter photo with a post-shelter shot...Loki is so happy in his love-filled Texas foster home!
.
As our rescuer drove away from the dreary shelter, Loki was so filled with joy that he climbed into her lap, breathed a huge sigh of relief and fell fast asleep. He slept all the way to the vet's office for his temperament testing (he passed with flying colors) and got great results on his vetting assessment.

Loki was scheduled for euthanasia in a high-kill Texas shelter due to flea dermatitis. This is a skin condition (caused by fleas, dirt, poor nutrition and stress) that causes the young dog to lose some of their hair and develop a rash in that spot that is unbearably itchy! This is easily cured with placement in a clean, flea-free home, a diet with great nutrition and periodic soothing baths. We're often very surprised when we see one of our Dermatitis dogs just a few weeks after their adoption...their coats are quickly growing in with that cottony look of good health! Loki's beautiful scruffy coal-black coat (with the striking silver and tan streaks running through it) will be a reminder of Loki's primary Schnauzer breed.

Off Loki went to his foster home...to be reminded of respectful house skills and to wait for his transport to Denver and a brand new life. Since Loki has gotten an A+ for sweetness, cuddling and general positive behavior...he's ready to be a devoted family member. We envision him in a home either with very gentle, dog-crazy children who can play with and love Loki with a gentle touch or in a home with retirees who will shower time and attention on this devoted and engaging guy. Loki will return this love and caring a thousand times over.

We would never want Loki in a situation where he's alone for many hours. Instead we would love for him to be taken along on hikes, adventures and even visits with dog-loving friends. He's almost impossible not to fall in love with...his manner speaks of softness and light. Loki also travels like a champ - he loves nothing more than coming along on errands, hikes and any adventure that keeps him together with those he loves. He would be a natural to come along on vacations or getaways (and is a perfect companion at 9 - 12 months old and approximately 21 lbs)...he's so pleasant with everyone and attracts admirers everywhere he goes. But it will definitely be the special lap and familiar touch that will draw Loki back to his family every time...he's a one-family guy!

Loki is being loved up in a Denver area foster home. If interested in this snuggly, sweet and loyal guy, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730.
