My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

It seems that everyone loves Terriers (they always rank very high in the most popular breeds list). We do...especially if they're as sweet and loving as Asher . He was acknowledged at a high-kill Texas shelter for having a great temperament and being so wonderful to love on and cuddle. This recognition is a tough feat considering this facility holds up to 450 dogs with a very high daily turn-in rate.

Asher, at 8 months old and 18 lbs is an exceptionally beautiful boy with the cutest underbite ever! You can tell when you look into his very expressive eyes that her short life has held sadness and challenges..but he would never be one to carry that around. While initially shy...give him a moment! Asher's great energy makes you melt. As he trusts more and more... and then before you know it, this adorable little pup is in your lap letting you know you are his number one love! We can't think of a better or more devoted companion for retirees or a family with older, very gentle children who are searching for the sweetest playmate ever.

Asher would be a kind and respectful family member...he loves his people so much that he desires to behave to the best of his ability. He simply needs to understand what is being asked of him..once clear, he truly wants to comply. We think Asher would be very successful in positive group obedience classes. He would naturally bond with his family while learning skills that will make him a pleasant well-trained member of the community. Asher desires be a long-term best friend who will always be waiting at the door with a happy tail and a kiss of greeting.

Asher will fit in with a family or individual that enjoys outdoor adventures..he loves the sunshine and would be overjoyed with a long walk, a fenced yard and a sunny porch. He is more than happy to engage in anything his guardian has in mind ...and smiles with joy at being included. We feel that Asher would thrive in a family that includes their dog in their lives. We feel that leaving him alone at home for many, many hours wouldn't work for this sensitive boy. He's so pleasant...and could accompany his family just about anywhere a sweet pup is welcome. We would love a family that would give Asher the benefit of this type of socialization. He would truly be a gift to anyone searching for a loving and extremely devoted best friend.

Update: We just received a report card for Asher and his foster thinks he's just about perfect. He's perfectly housetrained (not a single accident and he's so respectful of his home!), he loves being cuddled and is wonderful with all dogs, 2 teenage children and everyone that has had the pleasure of meeting him. Asher sleeps through the night and can entertain himself in his crate.. or out and about in the home with no problem. He isn't vocal and communicates more with snuggles and a waggy tail (see helicopter tail in photo...so sorry it's blurry - we've requested new photos and will post as soon as we receive them). His foster shared that she had a very difficult time parting with Asher when she kissed and hugged his scruffy little face and put him on transport to his new life in Colorado.

Asher will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Friday 2/12/16. If interested in this adorable and sweet...and often very entertaining best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730.
