My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Farfel's Rescue was notified by our compassionate rescuer in Texas that a very cute and engaging Wheaten Terrier mix was scheduled for euthanasia in just a few days. Although you can't see it in this photo, Jenna is beautiful...with the softest and kindest eyes that just reach into your heart. The rescuer spoke of this 12 - 18 month old, 19 lb pup as a gift of love. She saw Jenna as a wonderful and devoted companion for a family with gentle dog-loving kids - she was concerned that very young children would intimidate Jenna with loud voices and less than gentle treatment. She also described Jenna as a great friend to gentle canines...she would enjoy playing, long walks together and hanging out at day's end.

We took a look at the sad eyes staring out of the shelter photo (they spoke of difficult times)... and heard the reports of Jenna's carefully wagging tail that spoke of a huge desire to trust and bond for life. We accepted Jenna immediately into our program. She was removed from the shelter, vetted (perfectly healthy), temperament-tested (passed with flying colors) and brought to a nurturing Texas foster family who will reinforce Jenna's house skills and socialization while she waits for her transport to a new life in Colorado. We've committed to finding Jenna a committed and very loving family who will enjoy her for her devotion, sweetness and strong desire to please. Once Jenna becomes comfortable in her surroundings, she is a friend that will make you laugh at her antics and want to hold her tight just because she's so incredibly cute!

Jenna is so special that she was recognized (as was her sister Jada) at an extremely crowded shelter and the following was attached to her kennel card:
Jenna shines like a diamond in the rough as her gorgeous coat makes it so hard to look away! She can be initially a little shy, but she is also so very sweet! Jenna loves being scratched under her chin and petted down her back softly. Jenna enjoys playing in groups of like-sized and smaller breed dogs. She prefers to always taking her potty breaks outdoors. Jenna is very well-behaved while kenneled and outside. She will make a great house pet and companion!

We would love to see Jenna in a home where she becomes a true member of the family. Active retirees or individuals who work out of the house would be perfect for this sweet young girl. Jenna appears to have a calm side that loves nothing more than to settle into her person's lap and stay put with an occasional lick and a wag of delight at her good fortune. She would love long walks or hikes outdoors in the sunshine and is portable enough to bring along on every dog-friendly adventure. Jenna has done well in the car and would be overjoyed with riding shotgun.

Jenna will therefore require periodic grooming...she deserves a spa day with a sudsy bath and a thorough brushing. Great nutrition and care will keep Jenna's beautiful coat soft and matt-free.

UPDATE: Jenna, after a year, has been returned to us. We want to stress that this was through no fault of her own. She continues to be who she always was..a very sweet and loving girl who is still searching for a family who will love her unconditionally.

Applications are being accepted and Meet and Greets are currently being set up for this beautiful Terrier.
