My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We all know how we get that awww feeling when we see an adorable very young puppy. Ari is the kind of puppy who snuggles in, loves you up and then puts his head on your shoulder. He's so sweet and social with every possibility open to him. That's the case unless a young puppy is in a high-kill shelter that quickly runs out of space. We're so grateful for the efforts of our great rescuers and fosters in Tijuana, Mexico for saving Ari (and his 3 brothers) from abuse and certain euthanasia. She could see that his temperament was so sweet and his need so great that she couldn't turn her back on this very special guy who had his whole life lying in front of him. Ari was immediately brought to be vetted, given the appropriate vaccinations, granted a health certificate and brought to a dog-loving foster to begin his education as a cherished house dog. We've requested that Ari get neutered prior to his transport. The Tijuana vets have responded that they believe him to be too young to be fixed. Farfel's is happy to cover all costs for Ari's neuter and microchip and any additional puppy shots that are necessary after his arrival in Denver. When we think of rescue, our thoughts don't usually go onto the tough streets of Tijuana. But these forgotten dogs deserve our help every bit as much as their US counterparts. They all have been used for opportunistic purposes...to either breed and discard or to sell as a puppy to a Mexican mill or rich tourists. Virtually all of them have lived on the streets and survived by learning to be social. They love people because compassionate tourists were their means of survival. They can sit in any language and fit quietly into any scene to earn a treat or discarded meal. This was the life waiting for Ari...only about 8 weeks old and approximately 2 lbs (anticipated to be about 10 - 12 lbs when full-grown). This is such a perfect size to be able accompany his family just about anywhere and fit right in due to his great temperament and very positive outlook on life. Ari is already starting to understand that sweet, cuddly and cooperative behavior makes great things happen in life. He was one of the extremely lucky young pups to master his socialization skills at a very early age and endear himself to the US rescuers. There was no way Ari was going to be left behind! We all have a clear picture of this very sweet and fun-loving guy in a forever Colorado home with a family that cherishes him for life. As Ari becomes comfortable in his home, he will become a fuzzy ball of good-will that loves to please - the happier his family is with his behavior, the more he will shine with his accomplishments. We would like to see Ari in a home that includes him in family time and activities (and some lap-time would be perfect!)... and takes that extra step to participate in puppy kindergarten and positive reinforcement obedience classes. These classes take a very smart puppy like Ari and molds them into a great family member that can behave appropriately in any situation. Ari would also be a wonderful companion for active retirees who have the time and desire to be best friends with a truly adorable young pup. Ari would enjoy another gentle dog to play with...he's so sweet and gentle as he puts his positive energy into enjoying the day with a fun friend. Ari was identified as a purebred Poodle by his Tijuana rescuer..although it's a bit difficult to tell because he is so young. The local vet believed Ari may have a bit of Maltese in his DNA as well. Once Ari is lovingly bathed and cared for by his Tijuana foster...and with great nutrition..he will emerge as the cutest (and most loving and cuddly) teddy-bear puppy ever (no matter what his breed is). Ari, as a non-shedder, will always require a commitment to periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his gorgeous cottony-soft coat healthy and matt-free. We'll follow up with a photo of Ari after his spa day. Ari will be arriving on transport in Boulder on Saturday 3/19/16. Applications are currently being accepted for our sweet, silly and very endearing puppy with the dark, expressive eyes. If interested in this adorable ...and very fun and entertaining best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com.
