My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Dominique is an incredibly cute ball of cottony fur that climbs into your heart (and lap) with a wag. Once she gets a sudsy bath and grooming, she'll absolutely be one of the cutest girls around. At 8 - 10 months old and 12 lbs (anticipated to be approximately 15 lbs when full-grown), Dom is every bit the puppy-like kind of girl...fun and active....but at the same time she is a well-behaved pup who is very positive and sweet.

Sweet (and initially a bit shy) Dominique was facing the end of her life just as it was beginning. ...and was rescued just in the nick of time. This sweet and engaging Italian Greyhound/Terrier mix is an up and coming breed mix that's loved for it's athleticism, amazing intelligence and engaging personalities. Dominique is starting out with great energy...the excellent results of her temperament-testing ended with a transport ticket to Colorado and a new life.

At this early point in Dominique's development, she's open and excited about all possibilities. We want to nurture this positive vision of the world by matching Dom to a family who expresses their devotion for her in many different ways. We'd like this little dog to attend positive reinforcement group obedience classes to be the very best adult dog she's capable of being. Right now, Dom is a blank slate who will soak up positive feedback with every effort to be the best behaved dog around. Dominique loves to be loved and will return this devotion a thousand times over.

We'd like Dominique to be part of a family with gentle, dog-loving older children or with active retirees who will include her in their activities. Dom is so portable that she can easily be a constant companion - she would love nothing more than walks or hikes (she loves being outside with the sun on her face), trips to the store (she's a great window-shopping friend) or even a place at a pet-friendly workplace. Dom is young and flexible enough that she can be introduced to virtually any situation...and if there is love and gentle guidance...she can succeed.

Dominique is appropriately playful and inquisitive for her young age. She's bright and so loving (loves to cuddle in your lap-but watch out..young dog energy may call). Dom clearly has no memory of her scary very early life. Since Dom is such a young girl, she's a blank slate just waiting for a kind and patient human to show her the way. She has all the potential in the world to be an awesome companion. Dominique will form firm bonds with her family and learn positive socialization skills through exposure to many different situations out in the world including puppy kindergarten and positive reinforcement group Obedience Classes. It does take a bit of time and commitment...yet pays off a thousand times over when you have a dog that can accompany you in the outside world with appropriate behavior.

Dominque will require a commitment to periodic baths, brushing and great nutrition to keep her hair shining, very healthy and matt-free.

Dominique is currently in a foster home in the Denver area. If interested in setting up a Meet and Greet with this adorable and sweet...and often very entertaining companion, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730.
