My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET ARIES!

Hello gorgeous! This gorgeous lady is named Aries. She's a 10 year old purebred Rottweiler who was surrendered to Philly's animal control shelter because her family couldn't afford to provide her veterinary care. Because she had a painful, ulcerated tumor on her toe, she could not remain in the shelter for long so City of Elderly Love stepped up to save her from euthanasia - she's now happily living in foster care and is looking for her future family!

The first order of business upon coming to City of Elderly Love was to take care of that pesky infected toe. Aries was diagnosed with an osteosarcoma which was localized to just one digit so she had the toe removed. She is feeling SO much better since her paw has healed. With no more chronic pain, Aries is showing her puppy-like personality! Aries has a couple benign old-lady lumps which cause her no issues and she also recently had her teeth cleaned! Thanks to a healthy diet, Aries is also down to about 125 lbs from 132 which makes romping around, play bowing and chasing tennis balls much easier. Despite her size, Aries walks great on the leash and is overall, an easy-going, gentle lady. She is currently living with 2 other large dogs and 1 small dog. She's slowly showing interest in playing with them, but isn't quite sure how to initiate it just yet. She's more than happy just hanging out with her canine buds, though she doesn't like the idea of having to share her dinner with them so eats on the other side of the kitchen. She is also living with 2 cats who are used to meeting new dogs. She basically ignores them besides the occasional sniff. Aries would likely do well in a home with other friendly, low-key pets!

Aries does have some traits that go along with her giant breed. She's pushy for affection and will nudge your arms and hands when she wants ear or back scratches (she LOVES attention) and isn't isn't shy to let you know when its dinner time. When ready to play, she'll play bow and prance around. She does use her mouth to play, but never bites - just some nibbles! She is not currently living with children and because she can be forward about her interactions, would likely do best in a home with older children. Aries loves meeting new people and will wiggle her whole butt when she's excited! She also makes adorable grunting sounds which is why her foster parents have dubbed her "the dragon"! This adorable, healthy and well-rounded girl would make a great addition to most families - could it be yours?

Aries is available for adoption through City of Elderly Love. She is spayed, vaccinated and microchipped. She is also heartworm and Lymes Disease negative. She is also housebroken!
