My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET LUIGI!

You may never meet a cooler cat than Luigi! Around 8 years old, he was found as a stray in Philadelphia. A kind family took him in and to a vet only to discover that Luigi had a mouth full of painful teeth which would likely all need to be removed so they brought him to the shelter for care. Luigi was then left as the only cat on the adoption floor after a big adoption event and caught his foster mom's eye instead!

You'd never know that Luigi is technically a semi-senior. He gets zoomies multiple times a day and loves playing with his purple mouse toy and playing fetch with his rainbow ball which he brings everywhere! He keeps us laughing with his antics every day and will definitely be the clown of his future family. If you're in the market for a tiny best friend, Luigi's your guy! He'll follow you around the house just to see what you're up to and sleep curled up next to you. We're not sure if Luigi has ever lived with/around other cats but he has met several while in foster care and has quickly tried to make friends with them. He'd probably do well in a home with other social cats. He isn't currently living with other dogs but has seen them from a distance at adoption events and would likely do well with low-key dogs who don't mind a playful cat.

Luigi has been completely vetted since coming to the rescue including having most of his teeth removed due to their condition and treating double ear infections (hence the crinkly ear). He does have a sensitive stomach and prefers either a wet food diet or Biome dry food to keep his belly regular. He's otherwise a healthy, happy dude ready to live his best life!

Luigi is available for adoption through City of Elderly Love. He is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. He is also FIV/FeLV negative. Interested in adopting him? Visit cityofelderlylove.org to complete an online adoption questionnaire or email us at info@cityofelderlylove.org!

More about this rescue

Operating as an independent subsidiary of Citizens for a No-Kill Philadelphia, City of Elderly Love is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal rescue dedicated to saving and enriching the lives of adoptable senior pets in the Philadelphia area. Utilizing volunteer foster homes, City of Elderly Love aims to rescue these animals from potential euthanasia at area animal shelters as well as prevent older animals from entering the shelter-system in the first place, when possible. City of Elderly Love also provides palliative and hospice care when needed. Through creative marketing and community events, City of Elderly Love works to place its adoptable pets into loving adoptive homes.
