My personality

My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MEET BOOMER!

Boomer the Beagle is around 9 years old and joined the rescue after finding his way to a local shelter as a stray. While a little rough around the edges from fending for himself, Boomer's happy and goofy personality was still very apparent. Boomer has happily settled in with his foster family and is ready to lay down roots somewhere permanent!

Boomer is happily living with other dogs in foster care and loves to romp around the yard with them. He has become fast friends with his foster sister who is an energetic large dog. He'll do his best zoomies while she tries to catch him but she rarely does! Boomer has done well meeting several new dogs but in true Beagle fashion, can be vocal when first meeting them. He is also living with dog-savvy cats and while he's interested in them and wants to interact, he responds well to their corrections and will back off. We recommend he live with cats who aren't afraid to be the boss. Like most Beagles, Boomer likes to follow his nose so it's important that his future yard be secure so he can't slip through a gap while following a scent.

Boomer LOVES his people and will probably follow you around the house just to see what you're doing. He'll happily snuggle on the couch with you or in bed (if you let him). He'll definitely be your little shadow which is the highest compliment, honestly. Boomer is a happy, playful little dog who loves to play fetch but doesn't always want to release the toy. He will happily trade for another though! He also loves to destroy plush toys and dissect them, but is very good about not eating the pieces. Because he loves toys so much and might not know the difference between his and kids' toys, we recommend he live in a home with older kids. Boomer is crate trained and does well in it while you're at work. He is also housebroken!

Boomer is available for adoption through City of Elderly Love. He is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped. He is also heartworm and lyme's disease negative. Interested in adopting him? More about this rescue

Operating as an independent subsidiary of Citizens for a No-Kill Philadelphia, City of Elderly Love is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal rescue dedicated to saving and enriching the lives of adoptable senior pets in the Philadelphia area. Utilizing volunteer foster homes, City of Elderly Love aims to rescue these animals from potential euthanasia at area animal shelters as well as prevent older animals from entering the shelter-system in the first place, when possible. City of Elderly Love also provides palliative and hospice care when needed. Through creative marketing and community events, City of Elderly Love works to place its adoptable pets into loving adoptive homes.
