Vinny reminds us of a flower just waiting to burst open...and all the love and devotion in the world will come pouring out. He's just a bit shy..but a hug and acknowledgement of how much he's loved will warm him up almost immediately. And then just a bit of time and assurance...Vinny will bond with all the devotion that's sits inside of him. His tail will start to wag slowly...then joyously! Vinny will wait for your invitation to embrace him...and from that point on, he's hooked. He's a lap dog extraordinaire!
At approximately 12 - 18 months old and a tiny 7 lbs, Vinny was never given the benefit of a committed and loving family. We believe he was sought after for his breed, his tiny size and his great temperament...he was an opportunity to father beautiful Maltese puppies to sell for top dollar. It was pure luck that Vinny was saved from a life in a cage...a local woman rescued Vinny. We know she didn't realize that she was relinquishing this wonderful dog into a very high-kill shelter.
We picture Vinny's family being one that will nurture and love him for the adorable teddy bear that he is. They must also realize that even a tiny guy has a need for exercise and mental stimulation. Once comfortable, Vinny will be playful and up for fun and adventures. He does very well at settling in after a walk in the sunshine or fun activities...a seat on the couch next to his favorite person (or on their lap) is just fine with this well-balanced guy.
We'd like to see Vinny with active retirees who have the time to enjoy this sweet guy and consider him a best friend. A younger family that spends lots of time at home...or who enjoy taking a wonderful fuzzy friend along would be a perfect home for our sweet Vinny.. Vinnie's great energy and loyal attitude serve to make him the very best companion he can possibly be.
Vinny's breed is non-shedding and considered to be one of the most hypoallergenic available. He will therefore require periodic grooming and great nutrition to keep his cotton-soft coat healthy and matt-free.
We've requested that Vinny be neutered prior to his transport to Denver. We're not optimistic that this will occur due to far too few vets in this industrial area of Kansas. If it doesn't, Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs for Vinny's neuter and microchip if our Denver vet is used.
