My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

The Long-haired Dachshund is a perfect best friend for those with who are searching for an extremely smart and loyal family dog. Dachshunds are famous for their great personalities and loving and snuggly ways. The long-haired Doxy has a stunning coat that (when healthy) blows lightly in a breeze. Cocoa's coat has the most beautiful colors running through it...shades of red, chestnut and blonde. With great nutrition, these colors will come out and Cocoa's hair will be cottony-soft and stunning.

These sweet Doxies are also known to love being part of a family...so great with their beloved people and other family pets. And since they require a certain amount of exercise (like all dogs) and love being with their people...if a walk is the order of the day - count them in! Cocoa would truly enjoy cruising the neighborhood paths...and then crashing on the couch snuggling close to her favorite humans and canines. Cocoa is an absolutely adorable and engaging girl (so sorry about the awful shelter photo. We've requested a new one to show how truly beautiful this sweet girl is).

Cocoa's sweet nature is just waiting to be enjoyed and appreciated...she makes playmates everywhere she goes. Once she feels safe and secure. Cocoa will be a social girl and that means everyone she meets ultimately may become a friend. You know when a loved one approaches, Cocoa's tail starts the greeting and it wiggles up through her entire body ending in a smile. And if your lap is available, up Cocoa goes to cuddle and snuggle and let you know the level of her devotion. Cocoa is such a wonderful being...we think she represents the best qualities of the Doxy breed.

At about 9 - 18 months old and approximately 12 lbs, Cocoa seems to have left behind the neglect and lack of love that made up her early life. She has become a fuzzy ball of good-will that loves to please - the happier her family is with her behavior, the more she shines with her accomplishments. We would like to see Cocoa in a home that includes her in family time and activities...she's very pleasant and would thrive in a family that truly loves her and considers her a very important family member. Cocoa would be a wonderful companion for retirees who have the time and desire to be best friends with a truly adorable young pup. Cocoa doesn't require another dog to be happy...but does enjoy her canine relationships with kind and gentle dogs.

We've requested that Cocoa be spayed prior to her transport to Denver. We're not optimistic that this will occur due to far too few vets in this industrial area of Kansas. If it doesn't, Farfel's will be happy to cover all costs for Cocoa's spay and microchip if our Denver vet is used.

Cocoa will be arriving on transport in Denver on Saturday 4/8/16. If interested in this snuggly and sweet best friend, please fill out an application at http://farfelsrescue.com/adoption/ and submit to farfelsapps@gmail.com or fax to 303-443-7730.
